If not mistaken this was his first NFL on CBS game called in the booth.

1989, 1-15. Could've easily went 0-16 By 1991 Cowboys were a legit playoff team

Between Johnson, Belichick, and Saban, that's 8 Super Bowls and 8 national titles (as HC) on the field.

The athleticism, youth and talent of Dallas very apparent in this game. Jimmie knew he was sitting on a powder keg after he loaded up on picks off the Walker deal. Then hit on a bunch of them.

Mostly Missed. 12 rds back then Less than half played 2 seasons or Less. When he hit he hit big tho. You purposely misrepresented the facts tho

Ahhh. After 2 years of being the dregs and laughing stock of the league a win to begin the season that showed Dallas was no longer a punching bag with eyeballs. …though in a couple of games the Eagles were to show there was still some real “work to do”.

Also the only time Kosar played against Jimmy Johnson.
@jamiejohnson45245 ай бұрын
Kosar would be unceremoniously cut by the Browns in the middle of the 1993 season. Johnson picked him up and Kosar got a SB ring serving as Aikman’s backup.

@@jamiejohnson4524 And would play again under Johnson again in 1996, his last season in the NFL/Johnson's first with the Dolphins.

The Cowboys' first win at the Browns since 1970 and their first of three wins over Bill Belichick as a head coach.

The beginning of Dallas’ return to glory. You can see the difference that Norv Turner was going to make with the team immediately

I remember watching this and immediately could tell Aikman was a different player than the year before.

Yes I remember the NFC East played the AFC Central in 1991. The Redskins clobbered the Browns.

This is perfect example of where time-of-possession does matter. Namely when you get at least a couple of TD’s and several field goals. By running off 29 extra plays and holding the ball for more than an extra quarter, Cleveland simply didn’t get enough plays (46) to score enough to win.

I like this football way better than todays game. Now the league and networks make the game an annoying show, for example they keep showing Talyor Swift in the stands and so much hoop la. Since Goodell took over the NFL has changed for the worse.

Jimmy Johnson and the Cowboys would have been better than Belichick and the Patriots in the greatest era of the NFL of all time.

The commentator criticizing Emmitt Smith on his first carry of the game for carrying the ball in his left hand and not switching to his right. Bad take on the greatest rb of all time and was great at holding on to the football and carried it in his left hand for 18,000 yards lol

Which Jim Nantz do you like? The one in this game with Hank Stram or the one today who works with Tony Romo? Jim has been a part of CBS NFL coverage for years (1988-90, part-time, 1991-93 and 1998-2003 on the NFL Today and 2004-present as #1 announcer)
