I had to chuckle to myself because I read some of the jockeys as described in the subtitles before clicking on to watch the race and apparently Lester's surname was picket 😂😂😂 lol

He really didn't, he won because he was on the best horse on the day. And that expression tends to be used anyway when a horse makes all, wins from the front and by kicking and catches out the rest of the jockeys, hence catches them sleeping.
