Nureyev was basically disqualified for being French trained, me and my mate Billy had been backing him antepost all winter and I was absolutely mystified as to why he was demoted

Biggest “ home decision “ I’ve ever seen . Absolutely disgraceful and has shamed our racing for over 40 years now . Still for the life of me cannot see what the jockey did wrong apart from being a foreigner ..appalling decision and Nureyev was a very comfortable and worthy winner in the day imho 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

My Uncle looked after Known Fact so was a pleasing result in our family. Tree could have trained Nureyev as well had he not declined Niarchos offer.

The camera just misses the interference that got Nureyev disqualified. You can just see the horse behind him slowing down because of the manoeuvre.

I think you need to see the head on camera position before making a judgement. As I recall, it was a pretty shocking piece of riding by the winning jockey and dangerous.
