1992 Mazda Miata, Black Edition (the first special edition Miata, Nardi wood pieces, BBS wheels, etc...) Clean title. Low miles. Body and interior reasonably clean. That's the Miata part. 😁

Moving the alternator to be mounted lower reduces the center of gravity by shifting the weight downward. Not sure how much it matters but that's what he meant by it

@@jekasolomon should be 0.5 -1.0 seconds faster than that with a good launch. Mustang can do upper 14's with as good launch (lower with slicks) and weighs 800 lbs more

Who cares? It's about a latte apex, trail breaking, and powering out of the corners and stretching a lead over the competition on the straight before repeating the process with slightly different variations on the next corner. Quarter mile base lines don't tell you much about the complete quickness of a car.

Modified front sub-frame mostly to clear starter, power steering pump, and A/C compressor, modified rear sub-frame to fit T-bird IRS differential, a little cut, beat & weld at the front of the transmission tunnel to clear the Tremec T5-WC bell housing, Wilie Coyote-looking tunnel through the oil pan to clear steering rack, cut a few stiffening braces from underside of hood to clear intake system. Short tube headers available, rest of the exhaust system has to be custom fabricated. Big aluminum radiator and electric fans may require some cutting and fitting. Martin Wilson of Monster Miata sells a book on doing the conversion using a Ford Windsor 302 V8. As mixed-brand swaps go, I'd rate it medium easy using his kit. Topics the book could have covered better: electrical system mods, cooling, misc. pipes, hoses, plumbing in general. The build list in the video description gives some idea of parts needed. As a general rule, when adding this much horse power, consider replacing everything horse power touches, from motor mounts to rear control arms.

It's either Ford mustang or miata parts. Custom stuff that goes in between is typically parts of a kit. Like motor mounts, exhaust headers, radiator etc. The driveshaft and exhaust you get done at a standard shop for those things.

$15K +/-$5K depending on your luck scrounging parts, and doing all your own work including minor machining and welding. The $4K kit mentioned is just a few basics to get you started. The base kit doesn't include brakes, suspension, chassis stiffening, roll bar, and a hundred other little details you will encounter.
