Ben filmed a whole video with a sticker on his arm. That's the most dad thing ever.

proud owner of a '93 968. Also have kids, but this car's just for me. I'd never daily drive it, but great fun now and then. Handling is unreal.

I took it for a blast on my own after filming this and it was glorious 🙌

So it can/has been a family car. My dad owned one new in 1994 and my sister and I fit very nicely in the back (as 8 and 5 year olds) but we didn't have child seats in those days for that age. That said, it was the only car we ever wanted to travel in :)

That’s awesome thanks for sharing! You must have some awesome memories 😊

I bought my 968 and squeezed my kids in the back no problem. Even smaller teens fit. Just. More importantly, the hatchback design makes it super practical. Lovely cars.

Ive owned my '93 968 for about 18 months now, not a daily but i get a lot of joy from driving it. Im 6'3" but still had the issue with the visor, i replaced the hinge part for a new one (about £15) and now it doesnt droop so far. The 4 pot 3.0 is a big surprise feeling more like a 6 cyl in how torquey and smooth it is but once it hits about 4k rpm, it takes off.
@dadcars Жыл бұрын
I agree the engine is a pleasant surprise! 🙌
@8359s Жыл бұрын
Oh regarding the sun visor, it can be fixed so it's not floppy, you wouldn't touch it with your head then. It's actually easy fix by yourself ;)
@dadcars Жыл бұрын
Yeah James said that when I mentioned it 😅 I did feel really far forward in this though, Shetland pony legs 🙈

I had the same visor problem on my 87 944. Hit my head all the time. Wish I knew!

Alwaysa wanted to see someone check out youngtimers looking at things like fitting child seats. Considering a 968 with kids at home after getting rid of my lowered vintage Saab 900. Great video and channel idea. Thanks!

Classic Car ownership is always something that I see as requiring a bit of compromise. The repayment is having something genuinely special. And just like general classic ownership, I think the appeal of a Classic Car as a DadCar will vary from person to person based on the compromise/reward balance. I always chuckle when Ben talks about a harsh ride on a car and then we see a child is completely spark out asleep...
@dadcars Жыл бұрын
So true! Mine are so used to it now they can sleep through anything 😅

Respect for driving 2 kids in it! Were they comfortable enough on the long journey? My daughter complains about anything more than a 10minute drive lol and that's in a reasonably modern, reasonably practical and non-sporty car!
@dadcars Жыл бұрын
Considering they were in this car for around 10 hours, they barely moaned really! No more so than If they were at home 😅 I think they are used to it now as we’re filming Dadcars reviews every week and often have to drive a few hours to the car. Some of the best conversations I’ve had with them has been on a long drive back from a filming day 🥲

Thanks for the childseat suggestion I’ll check it out, I’d like to try a 944 at some point and the 4 seat lotus’s look to have similar strange style rear seats so will need some more options for sure 🫡 I’ve done loads of other cool Dadcars, hope you enjoy the channel 😊

I’ve ended up here from jayemm’s videos, classic car ownership can be very rewarding, I’ve had 2 944’s very similar cars underneath! I’ve always found them a little ‘boaty’ more of a gt cruiser that you could do lots of miles in vs a second car toy for the weekend.
@dadcars Жыл бұрын
Yeah they’re no lotus, much more comfortable on a long run though 😅

Hi Ben. Hope your doing good. That is one cool Porsche. It reminds me a little bit of my Mom's Porsche 928 she used to have and sold to my Aunt. I love the simple uncomplicated dash/gauge layout. You can actually read it. One cool video, love the color of that Porsche. Take care and stay safe.

Dude you can climb into the trunk, I've been there few times, even rode there this year trying to identify annoying sound :D.

Felt like there were hollow sections to it though, didn’t want to damage it 😊 guessing the spare wheel is under it? Lol rode in the back 🙈😅
@8359s Жыл бұрын
@@dadcars Just joking, I understand, I would want to break my friends car too. Yes, there was annoying sound from one of the rear hatch claws, but not because the hatch was loose(usual reason) but because claws themselves have some play from being worned out in my S2. There are some child seats that fit in the back, one is Cybex Juno-fix, but in my case it's even worse than in 968 because I just have lap belts in the back.

Fun video! Check out the last couple videos I made. Not the same but very similar. My kid fits in both cars nicely. My brother owned an 86 944 and a 92 968, both of which he would let me drive in college. They are amazing cars. Don’t sell the 968, we regretted it, it looks so timeless!

Fun review but come on, pretty ridiculous premise. No parent is buying a 968 as a daily family car. So you kinda wasted our time. We’re here for the car not the practicality 😂😂😂
