Pretty fun car, just has the Italian reputation of expensive parts lol. Also, this is my first video EVER with actual 1440p footage (hence why it's uploaded in 1440p) which is the second GoPro angle.

One of the most under rated classic cars. Just a beautiful car.

The Duetto stick shift did not come out of the dash as you mentioned. It came out of the transmission hump and didn't have a center console, so Alfa wasn't paying homage to the Duetto with this feature. The Series 2 started that look. I have a 1985 Spider and it is very reliable. A little research would have helped a lot.

I own the above mentioned 93 spider veloce and my wife has a miata. The miata has a quicker revving engine and a stiff chassis, and handles like a slot car with extremely quick steering. Many of the design cues, including the seats, exhaust note, and door handles are spider clones. The ride is supple and comfortable and everything works The alfa is loud, the shifting and steering are engaging, and it just teases you to push it harder and harder.I really like driving the miata, but I LOVE driving my alfa! Also, it's not boring if you are moving, and you always get " Beautiful car" when at a stoplight or parking.

Granted the Miata is a MODERN (DESIGNED in our "current" era) & reliable Japanese car. This Alfa was designed in the 1960s and executed in Italy. They may look the same but they're totally different. I bought one of the last two Spiders sitting on the dealer's lot in 1994. It was an automatic (not what I wanted, believe me!) and although I bought it for myself I both won points with the wife and knocked down the price bcuz of the slushbox. Life's twists & turns took place and the wife ended up driving it EVERY DAY, yup. Only problem was it had no power. Well guess what? That ZF 3spd went in all kinds of more powerful cars; for instance the Maserati Biturbo. Knowing it was built like a bank vault I installed a multi-port nitrous system with the four "wet" nozzles on the underside of the intake manifold just so the engine bay wouldn't look busy. Each nozzle was a 12-shot, so 48HP in total. Considering the original engine was 118HP that bumped it to 166HP, which made a big difference when passing someone. It changed the character of the car and my attitude towards driving it. Rachel would never admit it but she liked it too. When we had our daughter we sold it.

Matt from Florida the Miata and Alfa are two very different cars surprisingly the Alfa is more practical for daily driving. Only 200ish were automatics. Plus the Alfa was nearly double the price of a Miata and the shifter location in the Alfa is far superior to many cars not having to move your hand far from the steering wheel. A Miata might have better handling but the Alfa has much more class and more power. Someone did put nitrous on their GTV6 2.5l these engines are indestructible constant nitrous shots and still runs like a champ.

Matt from Florida. Matt, I would love to hear, see your N2O configuration ! Still during my 1991 Veloce (since 1991). You have to have photos. I have thought about it many times.

Hi Kip. If any photos still exist they'll be on a website I posted to in the early 2000's. Sometime in the next few days I'll poke around and see if they still have them.

Kip Burbank, I just spent over an hour looking for this. Apparently I had a project-page setup showing the nitrous installation. When I try to link to that page it says _"page does not exist"_ I did try.

I really enjoyed my Alpha. I had one back when I was 25 yrs old. I sold it after 4 years. Great car but today I have a white Saturn Sky Base and a Sapphire blue Saturn Sky Redline for my Wife. I no longer miss the Alpha. We love our Saturn Skys.

The last ones are the best, though by the time this car rolled off the line it was a 28 year-old design on a quite dated chassis. Still a classic and a lot of fun.

My dad has one and driving it on twisty roads is very fun. On highways though it is actually quite boring and I always find myself creeping up to 100mph

The car is beautiful, Like an Italian supermodel, okay but, the interviewer was a bit vague,, in the future would it be possible to describe a little bit more about the car,, what and where the ash tray is located, where the turn signals and the horn are, Where the steering wheel is, and some other stuff it's not so obvious, like it being a convertible etc..

Well, same engine as 1974, but way less horse power... my advice, stick with 1972-74 to get pure alfa horses 130 to be exact, and no power steering, power brakes, air conditioning that just adds a lot of weight and takes power away from the wheels

Better with 3-speed auto! Miss a V6 Busso, the 2.0 is undewpowered because the aceleration is half slow with manual gearbox and SO slow with 3 speed auto. But despite of this, it's a beautiful italian roadster

Uhh, compared to a Mazda Miata or such, I'd say most likely not. Although I'm not entirely sure of how reliable these are in total.

Bogget the last series are reliable, but since it is basically a 60s car, it is not entirly comparable with much more modern cars

Yes indeed it is. When these are taken care of and not neglected they’re reliable. Most Spider were daily driven back in the day.

I daily drove both S3 L-Jet and S4 Motronic Spiders for years. Both were very reliable with the Motronic cars having a perfect record (lost a Bosh sensor in an ‘83 once, only time in over 200k miles a Spider didn’t get me home).

Absolutely a double moronic and lame presentation....it is an iconic brand and style ...it has history ..following and popularity...and should not be compared to a dinky half size Miata. ...which is utterly boring and wasabi like taste in your mouth ...Alfa owners ...are very proud of their association with the spider ..and cherish them ....unlike your lame and inexperienced comments ...you got the horsepower wrong ...the issue with the gear shifter wrong ....and it is obvious that you are not even a good presenter . Limit your reviews to cars like ford and Chrysler...better yet ....lawn mower type Gardening fits your unattractive voice . Very annoying voice too ....

These Spiders drive great! - they are gorgeous and now classic. Once you get use to the gearshift placement you'll wonder why everyone doesn't do it this way - as the placement is ergonomically ideal. This reviewer is too young to understand this car, or appreciate it.

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about, let alone know anything about driving a vintage car with the history Alfa Romeo has. I'm not even going to bother explaining to you why..... Comparing a car designed in 1966 to a Japanese car that came out in the 90s just says it all. Some cars are not about spec sheets but I see that you are way to young to understand that!
