If Zo and LJ had been able to conquer their differences, and this core grew up together, I reckon they would have been right there with Orlando. At the very least they would have been a tough out for anybody in the east, Chicago included. Alas, Zo and LJ couldn't get along because both wanted to be "the man", LJ's back went out, Zo left, and they became another what-if. To be fair, them coexisting on the court might be asking quite a lot. You can see even in this video that LJ pretty much blew that possession trying to be the hero, and got bailed out by the ball going out on Boston. It's written all over his body language that he wanted to make the shot and be the man, even at the expense of the rest of the team. Not a single pass, nor even a thought to make a pass to get a better shot.

They put .6 back on the clock and McHale nearly pulled a miracle on the final play of his career - he threw a perfect inbound lob to the basket to Dee Brown and Kendall Gill should have been called for goaltending when he blocked Brown's layup at the buzzer but the refs didn't call it. I am sure that play is in some video on here.

I remember watching this game, ohhh what a heart breaker it was, they Celtics were down by 18 points going into the fourth quarter and almost pulled off a miracle comeback, there was .5 left on the clock, the person who uploaded this just didn't show it, what happened was McHale threw an alley hoop to Dee Brown who almost tipped it in, someone on Charlotte goal tended it, but of course the ref isn't going to call that, but it was clearly goaltending.

It's really too bad LJ and Zo couldn't get along. if they had both been a little more mature, they would have been a devastating duo for a long time, also if Larry's back didn't go out. But looking here at how Larry was trying to go one on four before the actual buzzer beater, you could see how they couldn't really coexist on the court together.

The coach messed up the previous play. Instead of making sure that the inbound pass was made to their half court he seemed to have forgotten that they had like 3 seconds to cross . In addition, Parish missed his assignment and went after a player who was already getting defended and left Mourning by himself.....

For those who are wondering why the game isn't actually over, the ball would've hit the floor after the basket with 0.4 left. The Celtics had a chance to win the game off the in-bounds play and they were hopping mad when Bob Delaney and the officials didn't call Kendall Gill a foul on Dee Brown or goaltending where Brown had a chance to dunk the ball in with the ball in the cylinder. The Celtics protests were all for naught as the Hornets hang on to win.
@caar3216
@caar3216 2 жыл бұрын
You’re right in a sense, but it’s when the ball clears the net, not when it hits the floor. They just put too little time back on the clock, not having the benefit of replay.

@@caar3216 The ball cleared the net after the made field goal by Alonzo Mourning at 0.8. That gave the Celtics just enough time to convert an ally-oop to the basket off the in-bounds play.
