Good skill to have. The ability to find one of these with a blown head gasket cheap and bring her back to life can save a person lots of money.

You probably found out in the dip stick, that it just sits in its hole and is bolted at the top in the head, just take bolt off head and barley push stick out of way, if you pull dip stick out then your getting junk trait in that hole right below the area your working on and it will go straight to the oil sending screen. Good video, always good to see the gal's getting greasy 😆😂

If that doesnt work. Take off the secondary exhaust flange bolts following both exhaust pipes and remove the cylinder head, exhaust manifold, and portion of exhaust pipe and remove bolts and the nuts with way more clearence. Im working on a 1990 isuzu trooper with a 2.8 same setup as yours. Penny for your thoughts

its funny this popped up. i seen the thumbnail and my first thought was a small block chevy. its not but this engine family shares alot of things with the sbc and at a glance you really see it.

Yeah, I just wish they were more interchangeable than what they are. 2.8s (this version) are semi hard to find parts for.

@@oldirongirl i have a tidbit that may help. ditch the 2.8l and live life. get a 3100 v6 or 3400 v6 and youll be alot happier. the 3.5l and 3.9l can also be a blast. the 3.1l and 3.4l can pretty much be swapped into place of the 2.8l and run off the old harness. or take the newer computer and harness from the car the 3.1l or 3.4l came from and get a bigger boost in power. i have a 3.9l build i need to do before i die. you take the 3.9l vs bore the block .1 inches larger for the cylinders. it goes from a 3.9" bore to 4" bore. you can now use ls1 pistons and sbc rods stick a cam in there and you have a forged crank with high hp safe parts oil squirters on the back of the pistons and a light and efficient aluminum motor. just saying. stock the 3.9l is capable of 300 hp ditching the factory tune. with factory tune you have 240 hp 240 ft lbs of torque from 1000-6000 rpms. very healthy little power plant. v8 power v6 gas mileage. you can get over 30 mpg with that motor. they also like boost so think about that. stock the bottom end is known to handle over 600 hp.

I got broken power steering bolt in driverside head in the power steering pump bracket are broke also thinking about doing wat u doing to repair

Do you know where i can find a rebuild guide? My uncle has an 88 s10 durango he wants to sell me but i wanna rebuild the engine & tranny 1st. Any advice would be helpful!

I have to same bolt that broke off in my head, it broke way before I got the motor, but you got luck it's not recessed, mine is recessed about 3/16''
