1993 Flashback (SNES) Game Playthrough Retro Game

This is one of my favourite game ever. I love the atmosphere, the style, that Blade Runner and Total Recall aesthetic... It reminds me the futuristics movies back from the 80's. It was so hard to play and took me months to find out what I had to do especially because I didn't know English, but I was so into it and this game helped me to learn English when I was a kid, very common in Brazil in the 90's. This game is part of my life, it brings me back good memories. I wish I could continue making the sequences of its story or a game inspired by this.

That was the best game ever, so tricky, had to find everything out the hard way for myself, no instruction or whatsoever. It took me months playing it through when I was a kid. Plus that awkward atmo, that Blade runner, retro future style and still somehow everything was very basic, it had the feel of a strange dream to it, hands down for the creators.

Just bought this game today, having played the original when it came out. Can’t really remember what to do but instantly remembered the anxiety the controls gave me. But at the time this game looked amazing and was unlike anything else.

I had the PC version in French, and I did not speak French as a kid which made the game not just hard, but extra hard. Great game from one of the best developers of the 80's, Eric Chahi.

I remember this game coming out next to “Out Of This World” and some people called it a sequel 😅. Well played that end scene. Y remember hauling ass trying to beat the timer on that bomb as I escaped 😂 It was a game changer. Very cool that this video exists. Many thanks

Love this game, and love even more that they announced with gameplay vids Flashback 2 just an hour ago. FB2 Winter 2022. The item fanfare is my sound for messages and the menu music (snes) is my ringtone lol

In my opinion the PC version will always be superior in every way, but this SNES version is the one that hits me in the nostalgia, it's the one that I played as a kid and I remember being blow away by the animated cutscenes at the time even though they're slowed down compared to the PC version and there's a significant amount of graphics missing, still it wasn't common to see something like that in an SNES cartridge.

But game quality was top notch. 2013 was when games became mediocre and terrible..(Thank you low energy hipsters) but 2016-2020.. some good, some bad. I am optimistic about 2021 atleast. Crash Bandicoot 4 i am hyped for atleast :)

I played this snes version a lot growing up, a few tricks in this video I never knew about. Tho I’m surprised you don’t know if you’re climbing or jumping down from a location while hitting the draw gun button you’ll pull it out super fast upon ending your animation. Makes for some areas much easier. Some areas very clever use of i-frames tho to get rid of bombs and evade orbs

Never knew this until I started playing shmups on the PC Engine.... The SNES could not handle the amount of bullets and enemies needed for that genre...

@@ssg-eggunner The SNES had a very weak processor. The GPU was fast, and had some nice tricks like scaling, but it was seriously hindered by the CPU. Hence the often rather empty games with not much action on screen. Super Metroid and DKC are great examples of how to hide the lack of action/characters with eye-candy like shake, rotation, particle layers and such. The number of enemies on screen is most of the time 1 or 2. Not good for a shmup!
