Love SC1, smells like strawberries! I used to use comet and scrub the crap out of the white tank and white air box with a green scrubby, then my friend would leave a single greasy finger print on the tank. lol. When you're done you should bring it to Track 15 in Drumbo for its maiden voyage.

What I always used on my white XR plastic was Chemtool/carb cleaner and a pool algae brush, which is basically a long bristle wire brush. Removes all scuff marks, then could shine later

Just discovered your channel. Love your content. I’m restoring a 95’ CR250 at the moment. FYI your fuel petcock is on backwards from the factory. The lever should be on the inside.

I actually brought this topic up in my 1996 cr250 review video. I have found a lot of mixed opinions on this. And a bunch of mixed answers. 50% say it should be facing in.. and the other 50% say it should be facing out. I might actually have to do a video where I travel around and ask old racers and Honda factory mechanics there opinion…. Could be a fun entertaining segment on the channel lol. Thanks a lot for the comment and for finding the channel. Hopefully you like the rest of our build series. Good luck with the 1995!

@@Dirtbikerepair Not completely, works best on dirt, oil, any type of surface staining. The yellowing is through the plastic for the most part not much you can do to change the composition of plastic after years of holding gasoline.

I haven't had much luck bleaching the white tanks. Sometimes it is stained from the inside out. Now i just use the throttle jockey white tank protectors. It is a shame that the regular size tanks aren't that easy to come by. All oversized. I have seen a few of the standard clarke tanks and they don't look that good. They have a major blemish. The airbox on Canadas worst 92 that I am working on was sprayed with some sort heavy mixture of white and black paint. Even inside the air boot. Acetone and a sos pad worked real well.
@Dirtbikerepair

Acetone can work pretty good, most things can be corrected with a little bit of elbow grease. Thanks again for the comment

What premix would you recommend for 1000M / 3300ft buddy ? 40:1?
@Dirtbikerepair
@Dirtbikerepair Ай бұрын
I personally run 40:1 but I’m not as fast as I use to be…. If you can ride your bike on the pipe.. in racing rpm. Riding the bike really hard I would run 32:1 to get more out of the bike.. but if you are like me and just like to ride and enjoy the power of your bike when you want it, I would run 40:1 It really depends on how you ride your bike. Also it’s important to use good fuel
@sm400xr
@sm400xr Ай бұрын
32:1 it is then lol In Greece we have shell V-Power and we have V-Power “Racing”. I might try the racing this time Thanks again DBR!
@Dirtbikerepair
@Dirtbikerepair Ай бұрын
No problem, I don’t personally know what’s available in Greece but over 97 octane is what is recommended from almost any manufacturer. Also No ethanol. I can’t find no ethanol here in Canada, so I buy race fuel. Personally I use VP C12 or the Klotz equivalent.

I'm pretty sure there are products that strip paint off plastic. I think it's that citrus crap or whatever but I've seen several other channels use it with some success.

Mothers aluminum polish can sometimes clean these up really nice. Citrus strip is good for paint, and it is safe for plastic.
@Dirtbikerepair
@Dirtbikerepair 6 ай бұрын
really? I have never hear of using aluminum polish to try and fix white plastic. when I was at the hardware store locally the person who worked the area.. (nice older man) told me that the Citrus striper was not suppose to even be placed in a plastic container and it would eat plastic.. so i figured since the breather box is not really replaceable it was not worth the risk... now him being nice dose not mean he has a clue what he is actually talking about..... lol I might have to simply do a video testing stuff on different plastics.. like and old fender etc.. Thanks for the comment and for watching.

@Dirtbikerepair
@Dirtbikerepair 6 ай бұрын
I don’t think that is that silly of a question at all. I’m not sure how it would work out? I would try it if I had a vapor blaster.. I was tempted to try sandblasting with light pressure…. I still might on a old used fender or something
@grandprixgtpjy
@grandprixgtpjy 6 ай бұрын
Yeah definitely have to watch your pressure with sandblasting and it might take longer to polish afterwards.. Now I’m interested to see if anyone tried both methods (sand/vapor) on plastics 🤔 … Great videos by the way I always enjoy them 👍🏻

yes you can vapor blast plastics. It isnt anything spectacular as far as finish. But it is really great for black plastic pieces cause it cleans them good and leave no smear or anything of that sort. I have a good blaster. Its always more work than people think for good results lol
