Unbelievable car control in very tricky conditions. Next level

That was bloody lovely! Brilliant driving by Juha. Interesting to note that he was beaten on the stage by Gwyndaf Evans in the Group N Escort Cosworth.

This is intense, the stage is so narrow and slippery.

these particular videos are gold. I am guessing that they were saved by someone in the BBC production team for the 93 event and were never destined for broadcast? Some editor/directed decided that the stuff that was broadcast was enough? And luckily for us someone else took the view to keep the tapes? And here we are!

Why doesn't the WRC use this camera angle anymore? The Gp.A cars might be slow by comparison with the modern stuff, but they're so much more interesting. A proper handful and a joy to watch.

And they used a conventional gear stick.wrc cars now are boring yokes.

Because the seats are now so much further back in the car - think how much "bigger" cars have got since the 1990s - this camera angle is now impossible!
@TorAndreBrresen4 жыл бұрын
@@JamesScantlebury It's far from impossible but the FIA now have a rule that you can't mount a camera between the seats, at the same hight as the co driver seat flap is perfect. Done that in a Fiesta WRC

Tor Andre Børresen What a retarded rule, this is the best in car camera angle. I love being able to see what the driver is doing.

@@JamesScantlebury ordinary cars are bigger, but Celica was 400mm and Mitsu 300mm longer than Yaris Rally 1 is.

Thanks for the video. The pace notes having ice warnings show that an ice noting crew probably went through the stage a couple of hours before it was run, which I don't think was allowed in those days (even using notes was fairly new to UK stage rallies at that time). Not criticizing Juha or Nicky, just pointing out the historical aspect (I illegally used notes on many rallies, as did many co drivers in the 80s and 90s). It may also be that the organizers provided crews with a bulletin with warnings about where ice was seen.

Man Grp A was awesome, the attitude of the cars under brakes, understeer then oversteer, old school anti-lag, I could watch this stuff all day long. Modern wrc cars just aren’t as interesting for me...all though they are a shit load quicker. Technology in aero, suspension, gearboxes etc has taken away some of the spectacle
@Zero_Ninety4 жыл бұрын
The modern stuff does nothing for me.

Not only that, if you really wanted to you could go to a Toyota dealer and buy the actual car, well at least 60% of the actual rally car with 100% of the rally car look.

Stage 1 they were fastest and had a lead of +1. This stage 2 they were equal 8th fastest with Didier Auriol and Jonny Milner. Overall after two stages, they were second +3 behind Armin Schwarz in his Mitsubishi Evo.
