Just saw this bike at Road America last weekend (June 2020). Was a total surprise and I almost fell over when I came up to the booth where it was on display. Got lots of up close pictures and video. Was the highlight of my day. At least until the heritage race when it went by in front of me at speed, again a total surprise. I got it on video with that amazing sound!!!

El legado de este genio al parecer fue replicado por algúnas marcas, su diseño se puede apreciar en DUCATI, APRILIA entre otras marcas italianas y japonesas.

Nothing can quite prepare you for the visual impact of seeing one in person…

Yes, in person, they are very impressive, you don't know what to look at first as the design is so alien to any other motorcycle, I actually visited their workshop in Christchurch when I was working in the south island , NZ as part of my job and saw 1 up close before they became so iconic, they wouldn't let me photograph it but trying to describe it to people was pretty difficult without sounding like you had just smoked something illegal.....

Such a great bike. Roberto Crepaldi was a great help to the Britten squad when he joined the team. The original Britten colour scheme and Crepaldi colours were both special and it was a pleasure to see them in the Isle of Man TT Races diring the 90's.

I met the gentleman that owns this bike during the AHRMA event at NJMP. He is a class act and was very easy to talk to. He was also a great to share the track with during the Heavyweight twins race we were in together.

what a legend of a man , RIP..john Britton...does anybody know how many are left in the world , are most in America now ??
@gruntabro16 жыл бұрын
tipperaryhurling hey there , I think john britten only made 10 bikes of this type , think he raced 2 and sold the others , one is in a museum in Wellington NZ
@viveremilitareest92816 жыл бұрын
He made 10. 2 of them are still in NZ, one of them being the only road worthy one in the world. But yes there's a couple in america and a couple in europe.

John's daughter recently renovated and is now living in the large family home that John had created from old stables. She has one of the bikes just sitting proudly in a corner of a living area. John was a glass craftsman and made the glass and brass lights and tap fittings throughout the house. He also installed a high atrium inspired by Kew Gardens. His style was quite feminine art nouveau. Google his house.

About 4 years ago there was a special celebration of John Britten at Ruapuna racetrack in Christchurch. There were about 7 bikes from his career including 3 (I think) of the V1000. Andrew Stroud, who won the World Bears Championship and New Zealand championships on the bike did demo laps with plenty of big wheel stands. Awesome day!

@@viveremilitareest9281 Roadworthy or track worthy because I know of 2 in the USA that are still track worthy. To be roadworthy they would need to have lights, a horn and starter fitted.

ever heard of the term "stolen valor"? this is like an example of that. people who had nothing to do with john and his friends and family who put this masterpiece together but snatched them up and took them away from new zealand. i wish they would just bring the bikes home. all of them.

NZ has one still, right? Although I think it only sits in museums. At least this is used still, so there’s that. Also another in the Barber museum in the US, that gets ridden on track still.
