Ten years ago a friend of mine had one of these. No idea why at the time, he was a corporate rep with a thing for doing his own mechanical work and he used to go between Boston and Philly two or three times a month. He took us, all three along for one of those jaunts once. It's a seven hour drive. We arrived perfectly fresh. They knew how to do long legged luxury back then.

The exterior looks lovely, the interior looks like a real relaxed place to be. I bet its a great car for just cruising along soaking up the views. I think cadillac would do well to have a trim level that is just huge pillowy seats super soft suspension, auto pilot and maybe a some classic badges.

I love hearing other people love connections of Cadillacs to their grandparents. I'm in the same boat. When I was little, my grandma drove a 1983 Eldorado. That car is my earliest car memory. While the car is long gone, I have the hood ornament and all of the emblems off of it. My grandma was also an assembly line worker at Cadillac. She started in 1976 at the legendary Clark Street Assembly Plant in Detroit. She was there until the plant closed, and from there she went over to Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly until retirement in the late 1990s. Ever since I knew what a Cadillac was as a child, I always wanted one. Finally got one in March 2020, a red 2008 DTS. I don't plan on it being my last Cadillac either. I never let go of that childhood dream of having a Cadillac.

Hey Zack, I ended up buying an 89 DeVille 2 days ago! Somebody's grandmother moving into senior home, they were selling. 1989, 1 owner, no rust (in Chicago) always kept in garage. 124K miles. Original everything. In decent condition. Everything works (including soft close trunk door) other than one speaker in front, probably needs a blower motor resistor (blows hot and cold bit not from dash vents) New belts, new tires. Still plenty of power for me. Not looking for a race car. It still picks up nicely, in a Cadillac way. Front wheel drive is nicer in Midwest Winters imo. And those who like/need ton of torque, speed, agility, wouldn't get a DeVille anyway Love the original speedometer

Great pick to review, you are right Cadillac is far from what its use to be, is it a wanna be German manufacturer now. I work for Caddy for about 15 years as a technician, over the years I watched as they lost a lot of loyal customers when they discontinued the DTS (Deville ) 2011. Getting back to that era of the 4.9 L V8 if you bump up the timing 2 degrees it will take off like a rocket especially if it is a touring edition model Deville, Eldorado, Seville with the 3.33 Gear ratio. They're so many tweaks you can do with the Caddies of that era. DNR stands for dynamic noise reduction. Great riding car it just floats as you're cruising down the highway. 👍
