Ten years ago a friend of mine had one of these. No idea why at the time, he was a corporate rep with a thing for doing his own mechanical work and he used to go between Boston and Philly two or three times a month. He took us, all three along for one of those jaunts once. It's a seven hour drive. We arrived perfectly fresh. They knew how to do long legged luxury back then.

The exterior looks lovely, the interior looks like a real relaxed place to be. I bet its a great car for just cruising along soaking up the views. I think cadillac would do well to have a trim level that is just huge pillowy seats super soft suspension, auto pilot and maybe a some classic badges.

Almost bought one of these with 72k miles but the engine was a leaky mess. Sad thing is no matter how well built the 4.9 is, it’s not immune to aging gaskets.

I love hearing other people love connections of Cadillacs to their grandparents. I'm in the same boat. When I was little, my grandma drove a 1983 Eldorado. That car is my earliest car memory. While the car is long gone, I have the hood ornament and all of the emblems off of it. My grandma was also an assembly line worker at Cadillac. She started in 1976 at the legendary Clark Street Assembly Plant in Detroit. She was there until the plant closed, and from there she went over to Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly until retirement in the late 1990s. Ever since I knew what a Cadillac was as a child, I always wanted one. Finally got one in March 2020, a red 2008 DTS. I don't plan on it being my last Cadillac either. I never let go of that childhood dream of having a Cadillac.

Hey Zack, I ended up buying an 89 DeVille 2 days ago! Somebody's grandmother moving into senior home, they were selling. 1989, 1 owner, no rust (in Chicago) always kept in garage. 124K miles. Original everything. In decent condition. Everything works (including soft close trunk door) other than one speaker in front, probably needs a blower motor resistor (blows hot and cold bit not from dash vents) New belts, new tires. Still plenty of power for me. Not looking for a race car. It still picks up nicely, in a Cadillac way. Front wheel drive is nicer in Midwest Winters imo. And those who like/need ton of torque, speed, agility, wouldn't get a DeVille anyway Love the original speedometer

We loved the time warp story with its seats taking you back to grandpa's recliner... funny and informative. Our friends has a second Cadillac sedan DeVille,91, listed for $800, Pink Champagne paint is beautiful,it needs the trunk latching motor and ignition repaired by the buyer. I'd get them both if i could. The 91 has 144,000 miles.

My great-grandparents traded in a blue 1985 Sedan de Ville with blue leather for a 1994 de Ville, cream colored exterior with the same colored leather. When in 2008, my great-grandmother traded in the '94, she bought a diamond white CTS, her son bought the '94 back from the dealership. He still has it.

Great pick to review, you are right Cadillac is far from what its use to be, is it a wanna be German manufacturer now. I work for Caddy for about 15 years as a technician, over the years I watched as they lost a lot of loyal customers when they discontinued the DTS (Deville ) 2011. Getting back to that era of the 4.9 L V8 if you bump up the timing 2 degrees it will take off like a rocket especially if it is a touring edition model Deville, Eldorado, Seville with the 3.33 Gear ratio. They're so many tweaks you can do with the Caddies of that era. DNR stands for dynamic noise reduction. Great riding car it just floats as you're cruising down the highway. 👍

And still rides like a freakin ☁ and you're right about the level of comfort somedays I love to go for long drives just for the heck of it lol I also really like the seat switches on the door as well they're easy to reach unlike most cars today that almost have them hidden lol You just gotta love and appreciate these big beautiful luxurious land yachts, Again great video ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Kudos to you. I'm on the edge of pulling the trigger for either a (non-Northstar) DeVille, Fleetwood or a Town Car. They come in variety of conditions, miles etc. They are different cars with similar qualities in certain areas. In terms of the level of road noise, wind noise in cabin and elimination of bumps on the roads, which one would you pick if that was the only thing that mattered?

@@ShootingCars watched the 94 FWD review. Hard to come by. I live in a Chicago suburb, found one at $5500 at 50Kmiles, no rust.. But needs a fresh paint job. Will test drive a 95 DeVille (4.9, not Northstar)on Saturday. (From wheel drive might be a little better :) where I live. But also found a 2000 Town Car (yes, rear wheel drive, I know)at 66Kmiles at $5K Decisions, decisions! 95 DeVille is at 124K miles. No rust. $3000 2000 Town Car 66Kmiles $5000 Both clean. Honestly, town car has a much more appealing interior, half the miles but rear wheel drive. I guess I can drive the Subaru when it's really bad out :) Does anyone know anything about the town car steering getting stiff? Specially before 70K miles?
