1994 EFRA EC 40+ Sintra Portugal
This was one of the rare races I participated in after my retirement from serious racing in 1985, and have a nice holiday with my wife at the same time! We had not visited Lissabon before so this was an outright chance to do so. And a lot of racing friends were going as well, like Gerhard Binder who offered to be my pit man! Many familiar faces from the past, Sander de Graaf for one, Dutchies Hans Dokman, Stanley Bauer, Frank Cromberge, and from Germany good old Fred Knettenbrecht and Karl-Heinz Wilke, the winner of this 40+ Euro's.
Many from Portugal of course, especially our Portuguese Serpent distributor Jose Sousa who was so kind to show us around in Lissabon (I spare you the 'family' video of course, was a big surprise for my wife Renee Bervoets and me to see this footage!). Ted Longshaw handing out the trophies and drinking my champagne!
I think quite a bit of the footage was actually shot by my wife Renee Bervoets, she did a pretty decent job!
I don't know whose car I used for this occasion, looking at the body it was Michael Salven's. Much to my own surprise I made the podium behind Karl-Heinz Wilke and Hans Dokman. Anyway, we had a great time at this Euro's and have surely enjoyed the kind hospitality of our Portugese friends.
