specs According to the cam card from this company, it uses a comp cam CS XR282HR-10 230/236 at .050 Maximum valve lift is .510-inch on the intake and .520 on the exhaust. It is ground on a 110 degree lobe separation angle. comp cam xr282hr
Today I fired up the 1994 Camaro z28 and turned it around so I can begin to swap out those weak factory lower controls and Panhard bar from Steinjager #steinjager replace the factory shocks with some cheap eBay Sensen #sensen shock absorbers from #ebay

What year is your car? I'm building and restoring my 94 Pontiac Trans am with the LT1. The old LT1 is going to be upgraded after I get the BMR fully adjustable front and rear suspension and kenner. I'm also going to be building a 383 LT1 down the road.

the car has a slight tune when we did the headers a long time ago but yes it will need a proper tune which is coming up soon. .. love the cam perfect for what I need it for and stock heads it pulls hard past 3000 rpm but still has tons of torque down low for street driving. ... great cam

hey bro im having trouble with my 96Z :( when i start it it sounds like complete shit like Ticking or KNocking , I tried adjusting the valves which made it go away, but then came back. I do think coolant fell on the opti. But Im not sure if its that or something valvetrain related as a couple weeks ago, a RR came loose from the bolt, which was causing it to sound like shit too and misfire also. I also think I have a blown head gasket hahah. Do you think its better to just look on Offerup for a new engine or work on this one??? i was throwing off codes before this, P1371, now i seem to have developed P0300??? which means multiple misfire so i think thats why it sounds like that because of the opti.

Check the distributor cap. The distributor bushing/bearing goes bad melts the area where the set screws are and throws off the timing. New optispark may be in your future.

Sweet. Maybe a future video you could post a dyno session and numbers for us? I am working on getting mine back together. I am going to go ahead and spring for the torqhead so i can run the LS PCM in order to eliminate the opti and have it dyno tuned. Had engine bored .030 over and got hooker super comp long tubes amd connectors, flowmaster exhaust, Lloyd Elliott ported intake and heads and LE also put in big Manley stainless valves and heavy springs. I got the car from a buddy who couldnt pay a $1500 debt!! Its a 25th anniversary white z28 with the black t tops and tremec 6 speed. Somehow the spun the cam bearings at only 85k miles. Cant wait to drive it. I will stay in touch!

I was planning a dyno /tune session but the motor took a dump because I got a little too crazy one night and spun a main bearing (i think still have not pulled the motor ) from mis- shift where the motor saw close to 8000 rpm ... (too much for a stock bottom end setup ...) ... in the process of throwing together a junk engine to get me by while a full race engine is being built ... will update as soon as i can .... thx

This was a budget swap and wanted to show the cheapest way to do a cam and long tube header swap ... note : I re-used all locks and retainers for the new valve springs (which you can buy new if you don't want or reuse the old components mine were in good shape ) ... depending on the condition or miles your heads you also might want to consider new valve stem seals when you change the valve springs (i did not do that because these heads were redone and only had about a 1,000 miles on them when i did the cam)

Hi and thanks for watching ....... love the cam its a older design with slower ramp speeds on the lobes and under 600 lift (still running stock heads ) i pick this because it was cheap and it does not beat up the valve train plus I can get away with a single upgraded valve spring setup ..... it pulls hard to 6800 rpm (check out the new video i posted you can see the motor tacking out and pulling hard all the way to the top lol (and that's why i am currently redoing a motor as we speak (took out a bearing) just to get me by for the winter so i can mock up a rear turbo setup ..... but will be upgrading to a better short block mid spring.....

Yes you are going to need a tune for max performance if not car will run pig rich ..... waiting for the weather to clear up to get a proper dyno tune .. but that said this car has a small tune from pcmforless.com prior when i did the headers and intake ... not ideal because the car still runs rich but its better then a stock tune would be.

So is it a hoite custom cam or a comp cams XE cam? I like the sound of it and am looking to get one.

from what I gathered from the spec of the cam its a comp xe cam spec clone done by hoite cut for a lt1 engine.... at first I thought it would be a little to big for a stock head and cube motor but, found that it's fantastic great low end torque plus pulls hard till 6400 rpm and never feels like its nosing over. don't want to push the stock short block passed that rpm ... super happy with it and sounds great ..... as you can see from the video driving around part was smooth and no cam surge which i was surprised about note: this car has a slight tune on it which was based off the stock cam and headers but def needs to be tuned for the cam upgrade (super rich at idle etc) .....

Fantastic zero problems fit was spot on I will be going over them in upcoming videos as the build goes on.... from what I can tell it looks like the same manufacturer makes them sold through retailers... Hard to find them in stock .... also look out they make a couple of versions of the same header on eBay 1) just the headers by themselves with no y pipe 2) headers with y-pipe if you can find them.. .... *_ what to look out for_* they make the same header one has fully welded all the way around the primary's which mine are and the other where it only has spot welds if you buy look closely at the pictures to see the difference...

Everyone says headers and y pipe sounds awful and really poppy is this true?

no not at all ... my car has headers and a y-pipe sounds fantastic and zero drone with the borla exhaust even with the cut-out open

I have long tubes, y pipe, and an slp loudmouth on my car and I love the sound. Mines on the stock cam though.

Willhoite reground camshaft swap willhoites cams specs According to the cam card from this company, it uses a comp cam CS XR282HR-10 230/236 at .050 Maximum valve lift is .510-inch on the intake and .520 on the exhaust. It is ground on a 110 degree lobe separation angle. comp cam xr282hr
