How to change the automatic transmission fluid and filter on a 1994 Mercedes E320 with the 722.3 transmission. This is part 2 of 2 videos.

Enjoy all your videos very informative, but one thing you can do, the torque converter can be easily spun with a long screwdriver to align the drain hole no need to access the crank bolt One thing that I did not like was that you put that mint pan on the concrete scratching the paint which will eventually rust. I had to replace my pan because it was so badly corroded from previous service done by others.

It is a good idea to spin the pan on that concrete a few more times.

According to the M/B maintenance manual, this procedure is valid for the following transmission models: 722.3, 722.4, and 722.5. I believe that other transmissions require a different filter, however the procedure should be nearly the same.

I believe you are correct, I did a quick search in benzworld and it looks like you have to use a pump to put fluid in as you cycle thru the gears. Good luck.

Very good video. I have a 2009 Bluetec Diesel but in my car they say that everything in the transmission is sealed. No dipstick, and fluid change is made with a pump to put new fluid. I do not know if it will be so easy to do. Your video is very informative

Hi. I'm in Turkey. I wanted to change the ATF fluid of my w124 89 200. Unfortunately the technician didn't change the fluid of the torque converter. At first (like you) he drained the oil from the pan, and removed and cleaned it and made the filter change. I hope there will be no problem.

As far as fluid capacities, here are the specs: 1) 4 and 5 cylinder engines with 722.4 transmission = 5.5 liters 2) 6 cylinder engine with 722.3 or 722.5 = 6.2 liters 3) 6 cylinder engine with 722.4 = 6.0 liters 4) 8/12 cylinder engines with 722.3 = 7.7 liters It looks like the torque convertor dictates the capacity.

I would look at the kickdown switch behind the accelerator pedal and the kickdown relay.

Mercedes specialist dont recommend draining full ATF fluid , only the pan drain. how was the after driving? i want to use Melye ATF or walmart Castron Transmax Dex/MERC

ok so everybody got the idea ......but a very important question due to the fact that is not like oil check that you make it wiht the engine off at cold. I make the check of oil level gear box with the engine running?????????? i see that you show the dipstick while the engine is running is this the way to do it????

O modelo esta estampado no lado do passageiro na transmissao. De qualquer forma coloque 5,8 litros e depois de esquentar verifique outra vez e coloque mais ate cheguar ao nivel certo.

hello can i use the oil vacuum pump to remove transmission oil ? i used it and refilled with a new fluid but the color of the fluid still the same after changing! should i fully drain it and change again?!

These are really great videos! Thank you for doing them. I just have one small question. When you refilled the transmisson you added 5.0L initially and then ran the car and when you re-checked at 80 degrees it appears you didn't have to add any further fluid...is that correct? By that I mean, you didn't have to add the remaining 1.2L of fluid? Many thanks again and greeting from England.

Depende do motor e o modelo da transmissao. Motor de 6 cilindros com a transmissao 722.3 ou 722.5 pega 6,2 litros. Se for a transmissao 722.4 pega 6,0 litros.

Did you do torque converter? Without draining torque converter on those benzes it is pointless because you only got like 40% of fluid out.

nice video but i have a question. i have an E-class 280 benzin 1996 year with the 722.5 automatic transmission which is pretty much the same as this (or at least i think so) it needs again 6,2 liters of fluid and you again have to drain the pan and torque converter it even has the dipstick (same i think) but i didn't understood for this heat meter and the measurement i think my dipstick has min and max marks not degrees... so my question is if my dipstick is with min and max what should i do ? put 6.2 liters of fluid and i'm done or what?

Mercedes instructions call for getting the transmission fluid to normal operating temperature before filling to the appropriate level. They are looking for 80 degrees C on the transmission pan and then you can fill it completely.

Hello :-) I wanted to ask you something, only you cn help me! i have missing 5th on a 722.501( 300 CE-24) and checked both kickdown and shifter switches.. There is no "HGS unit in my car, only "MAS". +1965 Beto Dexron4 or 5 or 6. pretty much the lowest number they currently make. My corolla calls for dexron 2 lmao.

Your extension is too long for the torque to be accurate.

At only 11 lb-ft torque I'm sure there isn't much torsioning of the extension to make any real world difference.
