You could tell the 49ers were rounding into form, by the end of 1994 they were the best team, this was a total team effort, offense, defense and Special Teams all scored TD's.

He was probably the best route-runner, and best or near-best at YAC......and always knew where he had to get to (sticks-wise) But the idea that just being able to run down Rice is HOF contender..,sheer stupidity But nowhere near the fastest....

1:47:54 - Charles Mann, a longtime Redskins fan favorite now with the 49ers, gets a sack against his old team and actually gets a standing ovation from the RFK faithful. That just shows you how much Mann was loved in Washington. It also shows how loaded the 49ers were this year with star power. Mann, who for many years was the anchor of the defensive line in Washington went to San Francisco where he served primarily in a back up role that season and mostly played in mop up time after the Niners had already put the game away. When you have someone like Charles Mann on the bench coming in for mop up duty that shows how stacked your team truly is. I'm sure Charles didn't mind though as he would go on to collect another super ring with the 49ers to add to the two he already had in Washington.

Gus Frerotte was a bum. A true 7th round ham and egger who never deserved one bit of the hype surrounding his performance. His self inflicted concussion celebration is the single play which exemplifies the last 29 years of redskin/safe spaces (or whatever they end up calling themselves) football.
@pattrell52573 жыл бұрын
In Gus' defense, McDonald QUICKLY got high enough to dunk a basketball(maybe with 2 hands). What did he have a 45" vertical?! Those hops were beyond a football player's leaping ability. Though it gets no play, that's one of the most athletic plays of all time(possibly top 20). If Tim was a HOFer, then you might see that play more.
@johnselwitz53622 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t necessarily say he was a bum, there’s really not a lot of grandiose expectations for players drafted in the 7th round (I don’t know why Washington fans hyped him up the way that they did, perhaps they were just happy Heath Shuler wasn’t playing) so when you think about it, Frerotte actually kind of overachieved in that regard. He was not a guy who was gonna put up magnificent stats and be a consistent starting quarterback for any NFL team, but if the starter did get injured, Gus could come in and manage the game and get a result every now and then, like he did with Denver in 2000, Miami in 2005, and in his final season with the Vikings in 2008. He was a serviceable backup who could win a game or two if he needed to. He was kind of like Ryan Fitzpatrick before Ryan Fitzpatrick
