Don't forget that Jurgen Klinsmann's 15 goals in the campaign set a goal scoring record for a single UEFA Cup season. That record stood until 2011.

Jurgen klinsmann is one of the strongest German strikers of all time, after Gerd Muller and Karl Heinz Rummenigge. Bayern Munich had all three of them.

Klinsmann had 7 goals in 7 games. Now lewandowski got 8 goals in 8 games. gg wp klinsmann. It's a shame that there is always a record breaker and klinsmann's legacy is also gone.. 😭😭

Still blame klinsmann for getting Otto sacked though , he did all he could to undermine otto at any opportunity and they finally sacked Rehhagel 2 days before the first leg of the final . Klinsmann as he stated didn't like being told what to do by someone from a small city like Bremen .

There was more to it than that. Klinsmann has proven over his life his class and integrity. So a man like him going out of his way, because he didn't like being told what to do by a superior that was from a small town, is a far stretch.

I think it's quite a douche move by Bayern when Rehhagel did most of the work but Beckenbauer got a medal.

In fact Rehhagel confirmed that Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (Bayern CEO) gave him the UEFA CUP 1996 winners medal in 1998 after he won the Bundesliga with Kaiserslautern.

It's a shame you didn't leave the original commentary and put the crappy music instead. I had to turn this off after less than 30 secs. What a waste!

Jean Pierre Papin was a world class striker at Olympique Marsielle and AC Milan...it was his injuries and age that ruined his later years. Emil Kostandinov was on loan from Spain because multiple injuries and we needed a striker. Zickler was still young and had only through Trapattoni came into the first 11, Marcel Witeczek was a false nine or offensive all-rounder...one day brilliant and the next day playing horribly static. Papin was constantly injured... especially his knee constantly stopped him from ever returning to greatness. Herzog never played like he did in Bremen. Sforza was injured and also never reached the level of quality he had in Kaiserslautern...Scholl was first suspended then came back incredibly strong....a legend...the Ribery of the nineties. The strength of this team was it's phenomenal defense....Kahn as goalkeeper...Lothar Matthäus playing Libero (and that he did phenomenal), Thomas Helmer was great no matter as Libero or man marking center back, Markus Babbel really started to shine on the right side playing as center back or as defensive right fullback... Christian Ziege started to shine on the left side... and Oliver Kreuzer wasn't a bad substitute center back...sadly at that time Bayern München didn't invest much money in transfers....we tried to get Anthony Yeboah - which would have been phenomenal - but fear of the Frankfurt Fans going berserk forced the Frankfurt management to block a transfer to Bayern....sadly. Yeboah joined Leeds United from German side Eintracht Frankfurt in 1995, having fallen out with coach Jupp Heynckes. “Normally I should have gone to Bayern Munich but Frankfurt would not allow it because the fans would kill them so they said 'no, we are not allowing you to go' even though Bayern was 100 percent interested,” Yeboah revealed. Yeboah and Klinsmann with Papin & Zickler would have been phenomenal for the time.... actually they already had a interesting transfer window with Klinsmann, Sforza, Herzog, Strunz and Rehagel as Coach....

George W. beat out Klinsi for European player of the year, first year a non European player was eligible for this trophy, and even if George W was European, Klinsmann should have won it! He was always considered less than Van Basten by reporters and had that ego maniac Lothar who was WELL past his prime constantly, causing issues with Klinsmann or behind his back. Any top athlete who actually respects the sport needs to put aside their own ego for the betterment of the team and especially country, Lothar NEVER DID 😡 IF Lothar did put his ego aside and realize Klinsmann was as incredible as he was then, 1994 World Cup would have been much better, Klinsmann would have most likely stayed at Bayern and tbey may have won more, and Klinsmann would have rightfully won a European Player of the Year AND a Ballon D'or each at least once.
