1995-2003 Nissan Maxima: Front window regulator replacement

DUDE THANKS!!! Seriously, you just saved me close to $400...thinking that taking my door panel off and replacing my window regulator would definitely have to be something only a pro mechanic would have to do. Now, I could do these replacements all day. I have a '97 Infiniti I30t (basically the same body, door and parts as your Maxima) and I picked up a window regulator w/ motor from a salvage yard for $30 and knocked this out. I appreciate your taking time in demonstrating this diy fix. Peace.

@metrogroovefm When I first started doing stuff like this, I thought the same; removing a window, replacing a fuel pump, replacing a clutch were all things that are too far in-depth to be done by a random person, but I surely found different.

I believe on these you can reach the bolts with a wrench even if you aren't able to get it in the correct position. If not, you can remove the window motor from the regulator and move it around manually.

what if i can't roll down my window to access the two bolts that holds the the window? my window motor is dead and stuck half way down. thanks man

@keoki777 Yes, as soon as I get the time I'll be doing IACV, UIM, and valve cover gasket videos (likely separately, to keep them from being too long).

I have an 01 Maxima. Seems like I'm having the same issue as Jason Door however my window is all the way down and I can't get at the window bolts. How do you detach the motor from the regulator because I can't seem to get the window to move manually at all. I can't move much of anything in any direction.

+jenni4764 Your best bet is to get a right angle ratcheting adapter for a phillips head bit, and try to remove the motor from the regulator in situ. Failing that, you may have to just cut the regulator cables and buy a new regulator.

I have a 2001 maxima and the window stopped working completely. No noise in the motor. The window is all the way down in the door. I have undone all the bolts but i cannot get to the bolts on the bottom of the glass itself due to its position. How can I pull the glass up far enough to undo those bolts? The cable will not move. It will not move no matter what I do! Any tricks?

+Dcrush 02368 Does it go away if you put it in neutral or park at a stop? The '99s are known for coil pack issues that cause misfires. Checked for codes? I'd expect at least a P1320.
