It seems like to me Ford has had more trouble with their power steering units over the years than their counterparts have had . Great tutorial 👍

The older ones with the Bendix hydraulic helper cylinders (exact same part as early Corvettes and Checker Cabs) are fun to work on also. Do not cross the lines on those. If you do, when you start the engine the steering wheel will violently spin back and forth, full travel. Ask me how I know.

@Blu_Grit_Garage that's interesting I don't think on GM you can reverse them. It's been a while since I changed going on a Ford. Actually it's been a long time since I change one on anything

Can always count on the Ford power steering unit leaking. I have never had luck with anything as far as a stop leak working on a Ford power steering unit. Remember buying basically a new Ford and in the first year and a half they put on six power steering units. Good how to video

I guess I have been lucky. Then again My older cars have Manual Steering. No leaks, but a pain to park.

You can tell engineers are more concerned with speed on the assembly line, more than us working on them once they break.

I learned a new engineering term not so long ago. FUBAR, F'd Up Beyond All Reason. This job was not that bad. If the Engineers would have put an access hole I could have gotten a pump with a pulley and not messed with the Puller/Installer tool. If I got the pump with a pulley I would have to take the pulley off to install the pump, then reinstall the pulley.

I don’t look forward to this . I own a 92 F-150 similar setup I am sure. Yes I also work a full time job and my stuff comes last!
