It's not wizardry, very basic tape decks will be able to distinguish between the different types. The real kicker here is that the car stereo is capable of recognising and type 4, not every tape deck could do that, so it's something special.

I went back and watched the Stealth review since everyone is up in arms - he still praises a lot for the same weirdness and echoes the sentiments about Mitsubishi shooting their shot with all their tech, and it looking sharp. In this one, he actually seems to drive the vehicle, forgoing the criticisms about the MSRP (which was one of the biggest hangups), how the Stealth RT was overshadowed by the Viper, and the forum-echoed sentiment of their powertrain fragility and comes away with a new appreciation from just driving it. By separating his usual nuanced views on value and society and whatnot, and just driving the car - he learned to really appreciate it, or maybe HE SALES PITCH GIVEAWAY AND IS BAD.

But the 3KGT had so much tech from active aero, damping, and 4ws. The interiors are great as well. But to me a 3KGT is a bit of a forbidden fruit. You know you want one, but you know it's going to come with downtime, and hard items to service. If you can't do it your self, its going to come with hefty service bills as well. If you want to modify it, you know it's fragile and already built to it's limits from the factory. I've been fascinated by the 3000GT VR4 since the mid-90s. Never got a chance to drive one, though. A kid at my daughter's high school drives a really well-preserved base model 3000GT in dark blue, which is kinda cool. It occurs to me that would be akin to one of my classmates having something like a 60's Mustang or Camaro back in the day. Damn, I'm old!

Overblown imo. Kinda like how an Altima doesn't automatically make you a bad driver, it attracts that certain type so you associate the two. 6G72TT doesn't automatically mean it's gonna blow up, it attracts the type to trash it or make it unreliable with dumb mods. With time people also figured out how to mod them reliably, it's easier now than ever to not blow up.

Amazing that there was ZERO mention of the 300ZXTT considering it was the progenitor of the six cylinder twin turbo GT car. When the GTO here was designed, there was no 4th gen Supra; it was gunning for the Z. It even ripped off Nissan tech like all-wheel steering. It's a far more apt comparison than a 4th gen Supra or a NSX. Heck, with all the mentions of fighter jets and ad talk, you didn't even mention that the Z32 ad FEATURED a fighter jet. I think the lack of recognition lends creedence to that car being the ACTUAL dark horse of the 90s.

Correction: It was a direct answer to the skyline GT-R. Big GT car loaded with every technology they could stuff in it. Twin turbo 6, 4wd, 4 wheel steering, active aero, adaptive suspension, adaptive exhaust, just to name a few. The 6G72 engine is a worthy competitor to the RB26 as well, being capable of 700-800hp on stock internals with proper tuning and supporting mods. With a fully built engine, the sky is the limit. The car's heavy front overhang leads to an understeer characteristic, which is why Keichii Tsuchiya for example and other testers preferred the GT-R. Despite being slightly slower around a track after several laps, the GTO dominated the GT-R in straight line acceleration tests. It was released in Japan as the GTO twin turbo. They also decided to release it in the US, where it inevitably was compared to cars of a slightly different nature such as the JZA80 supra. The supra is an FR, that is also more focused on being a pure sports car rather than a tech laden digital monster. In modern times, a 3000GT VR-4 can be had in excellent condition for 10k or less, compared to the 60-150k of comparable GT-Rs (depending on the generation) and they go for even less in Japan, making the car one last hope for people who love japanese sports cars and don't want to pay TikTok tax. Common complaints include that they have cramped engine bays and are a pain to work on. This is absolutely true; however, the GT-R isn't better in that regard either.

There were a lot of reasons why Mitsubishi made great cars like this. Diamond star partnership was going as well, Carol Shelby still helping Lee Lacocca back in the 80s and early 90s. Mitsubishi had some influence from those motoring greats and nailed it in the 90s. Sadly they don't have any great influencers now nor they the capital to make a worldwide sports car. Sometimes I wish Mitsubishi would still punch hard as this car when it debut. Hopefully they'll come back to sports cars in the future, probably with help with auto partnerships like in the past.

No Purchase Necessary Laws The most important laws that you need to be weary of when you run a sweepstakes or contest are No Purchase Necessary Laws. No Purchase Necessary laws essentially outline that for-profit businesses cannot ask for a purchase or any other form of consideration as an entry for a prize promotion if winners are selected at random. This means that if you're running a sweepstakes where winners are drawn at random you are prohibited from requiring entrants to make a purchase. However, if you're running a contest where entries are skill-based and winners are chosen based on the merit of their entry you are free to ask for purchases and other forms of consideration. This opens the door to run contests which task users with submitting photos or videos of your product in action or write up testimonials about their experience with your product. However, there are a few exceptions to this rule. Colorado, Maryland, Nebraska, North Dakota and Vermont all prohibit purchase requirements both in sweepstakes and contests where winners are chosen on merit.

I also honestly view these as the closest things we ever got to an R32 GTR actually purchasable in the US at the time. The 300ZX Z32 TT was it's own thing entirely. I do think the 276 gentleman's agreement halo/flagship cars brought the best out of each company, the 3000GT, the Z32 and R32/33/34, the FD3S RX-7, the A80 Supra, the NSX, and even the SVX despite flaws was still a good attempt by Subaru.
