Do you have a video about the diecast one ? I'm trying to repair one.

No, I do not. I have never owned the diecast vehicles.

Hello. Du you have the original value of the speaker. Mine is totally rusted and unreadable (yellow +/ white -). Thanks 3:04

I have one of these and I believe that someone put something really heavy on it. It now is snapped in 3 or 4 places on the main body. I’m going to try and plastic weld it back together, replace the stickers, and fix the electronics because they don’t work either.

That'll be a great project and awesome that you will be able to salvage that ship. It has been so long since I did that video that I don't remember everything I've stated, but the problem with the X-Wings is that the company usually only put two screws in there. I believe that the force used when pressing the r2 down causes undue stress on the plastic because it is not equalized. There are places for four screws, but I think that both Kenner and Hasbro got cheap and decided to only put two in.

Thanks ,Very helpful video, question I took one apart to custom paint it ,but when I press R2 the wings don't really open up much .......any tips?

Check two things: are there four screws holding the wings down and cracks. Kenner was notorious for using only two screws which caused uneven tension on the wings, causing them to crack and break over time. This is why there are so many broken wings.

@classicalvintagecollector ...It's all good around that area no cracks or broken pc........I custom painted it and I order a new speaker but it still doesn't open the wings all the way mybe halfway...but the little tab does work to close the wings firmly......any ideas buddy?

@@classicalvintagecollectoralso I noticed if I press down harder on the R2 head the wings open perfect but they don't lock open all the way
@classicalvintagecollectorАй бұрын
The spring could be bad and/or the R2 dome isn't keeping the wings down because it might have a cracked ring. Not sure without physically seeing it.

Where would you suggest getting a replacement spring for the wing locking button connected to R2? I made the mistake of not paying attention when removing the little blue knob, which that spring happened to be weak in holding the wings in lock anyways.

Other than shopping on eBay or Mercari, you might try your local Ace hardware.

where did you get the speaker mine has the wires ripped off

I believe I ordered mine off of eBay. If I am not mistaken, I think it is a half watt.

@@classicalvintagecollector any chance you recall the mm diameter
@classicalvintagecollector Жыл бұрын
@@THEJERK67 I bought a lot of 10 speakers and so I would have to locate those to give you the exact measurement; however, what you can do is measure the inside of that frame where the speaker is supposed to be hot glued in.

Also my 1995 tonka x wing has no sound. I did take the top contact off and cleaned it up and took apart ship and cleaned up bottom contacts. Still no sound. Could it be the speaker? How much do you sell speaker for?

I seriously doubt there is a problem with a circuit board or the speaker. It is most likely an electrical short. Do you have a voltmeter? If not, this is a good investment in the long term. You can pick one up at any hardware store or Amazon You can use it to check the charge on batteries, electrical shorts in your house, etc. What you need to do is check for continuity between each of the terminal connections where the batteries are and the circuit board. That will tell you if the electricity is flowing properly or not and if you need to resolder a connection. There are two wires that go to the speaker and they are positive and negative. Double check to make sure that those wires are still soldered in place.
