I've done carpets many times. still enjoyed this and the tip on the soldering iron alone made this worth watching. thank you sir!

Glad we could help. The carpet is a good sound dampener as well.

Thank you for the video. Now I’m regretting buying the carpet.

Right now the jeep is in the hands of my son and the grandkids. He came by last month to take the top off, boy has it been a cold weekend for him.

great video! Try using a roller of some kind to spread and help adhere the carpet down. Also, the spray adhesive, spray it heavy just like you did on both the carpet underside and the body, but you really need to wait about 20+ minutes to let it get really dry and stick the two dry pieces together. The adhesion will be super strong that way. The same works when using rubber cement on paper; you wait for it to fully dry, then stick the pieces together. If you stick pieces together wet, they slide around a bunch and the glue almost never sets right so you get waves and sections not sticking.

Nice video man.. really appreciate the details you put into this and the tips at the end. I am just preparing to tackle this same project with my '90 YJ.

This looks like to much work for me. lol! I'm checking Amazon for a bed liner option. AND just FYI ---> Your videos are my absolute favorite! The mix you give with history and trails is fantastic!!!!! THANK YOU!

Awesome! Thank you! If I had to do it again... I would go with bed liner.

That looks nice. I went with Bedrug front carpet kit for my 89 YJ. Fit nice. Velcro in and easy to take out and clean.
@FloridaJeepRides3 жыл бұрын
That would have been better. This glue down stuff may be a pain to clean.

Thinking of doing this to mine. It has a V8 and It’s line Xd but I’m gonna put sound deadening then lay the carpet over it. Gets hot and loud!

It helped with the heat. It looks good as well. I have thought about putting AC in and JeepAir is not to far from here.

Can you please tell me how to remove and replace the shifter boot. Thank you
@FloridaJeepRides3 жыл бұрын
I think I had to take the shifter knob off, that was no easy task. Then all the screws were hidden under the base of the boot.
@DerekGH3 жыл бұрын
@@FloridaJeepRides doesn't the shifter knob just unscrew off?

Why didn't you measure off the old carpet and cut to fit?

Bed liner baby, makes washing out the dirt and so much easier...

It looks nice but will it last? Well the price was right and it offers a bit of a sound barrier.
@FloridaJeepRides3 жыл бұрын
I almost went that way. The grandkids like the carpet.

My carpet is rhino liner 🎉
@FloridaJeepRides7 ай бұрын
That works good. I like carpet for noise dampening, but bed liner is way more practical
@Hillbillypunk7 ай бұрын
@@FloridaJeepRides I'm seriously considering carpet tho. The floor gets way hot, and scratches almost everything. The entire outside and the inside on mine is rhino liner. Just the way it was when I got it.
