1996-2002 3rd gen Toyota 4Runner Radio install (alarm trigger fix)

In this video I go over how to install a new double din stereo system on a 1996-2002 4Runner.
I also ran into the issue of the security alarm and explained how to fix it on cars with no key fob.

If you tug on the wire you can physically see the back wire in the engine bay getting pulled for heater/Ac. It’s so simple. No electric bs

I did a Pioneer that does CD’s also! My 4Runner is ‘98 with stick shift. It has an aftermarket alarm system. I didn’t have much problem wiring harness adapter was awesome ! Power antenna works perfect! 👍🏾

is there a fuse in either of the boxes that you know of ? Had a doofus that put all his own nonsense in and wired straight to the battery, but now the power wire or the constant wire doesnt get voltage and i cant find any fuses for it. It does have that factory amp but even when i turned it on to check for voltage, still got nothing. Its a 96 4runner with the 3.4 and 2wd

Anytime! I just left it, all I did was plug in the harness, only thing not working is my antenna which just needs power going into it but I don’t listen to the radio so I never did it

When you install the radio, does the power antenna work when you turn the radio on? Also did you plug back up the factory amplifier? Are there any other radios with back up camera and navigational systems that you know of?

I didn’t bother with my antenna, I believe you need an antenna adaptor to get it to work. I bypassed the amplifier, pretty much took it out. The harness I use in this video basically calls for that. They make a better version of this one I believe the 160 that has all the stuff I got plus CarPlay but it’s almost double the price😅 this pioneer supports a camera and I’ve been pretty happy with it.

I took out the factory amp since the new head unit has a internal one and connected the harness directly to the Toyota harness that went into the old amp.

Check your fuses and your connections make sure your getting power to the stereo
