It really is the best SUV ever. It saved my families life when we had a major winter storm, and power was out for nearly a week, burst water pipes throughout the city, and every single store/building was completely closed, including gas stations, restaurants, grocery stores. When we were low on food and water supplies and firewood, and our water bottles began to freeze INSIDE our bedrooms, we loaded up our 4Runner with my family and pets, whatever essentials we needed, and headed south to our parents home to escape the storm. It miraculously made it, plowing throw snow, passing abandoned crashed vehicles along a mostly empty and depressing highway. Yeah, you may never need a 4Runner, or 4WD, but when you need it, you really wish you had it. Thankful for such a capable and reliable vehicle.

4Runner story: back in the day when we were living in Afghanistan, my brother in law wanted to go from one city to another (we don't have any quality roads or highways in there). he was driving a 4runner like this. he went there and when he was returning he noticed that a river on this way (from one city to another) had recently flooded. he had to either wait for days or try to cross the river somehow, he decided to cross it in his 4runner which he did. but the water had broken inside the cabin of the car to the point where his knees were submerged in the water but somehow he managed to pull it off. Man you have to living in a harsh environment to fully appreciate the spirit in these vehicles (land cruiser, 4runner, surf). 4runner is a warrior

I've owned many (mostly Toyotas) vehicles over the past thirty five years and my 2002 4Runner SR5 is BY FAR the hands-down best. I bought it new and it now has 257,000 miles on it and he still runs, drives and looks like new. I've always stayed on top of regular oil changes and preventative maintenance and had the timing belt changed twice. It's never broken down on me or left me stranded. NOT ONCE. Not even so much as a flat tire. The ac has always blown ice cold since the day I bought it. I often get compliments on it from complete strangers. I recently drove it from my home central Florida to the Smokey Mountains towing my utility trailer full of camping gear and a weeks worth of firewood. It performed flawlessly. The best and most dependable vehicle I've ever owned. I'll never get rid of it.
