you are great, Oscar! I had no idea how much went into replacing the water pump. I most definitely appreciate what you and all mechanics have to go through to keep our cars on the road. I definitely cannot do this on my own. Thank you for letting me know how much goes into it, and why I should just take it to my guy!

Thank you, I greatly appreciate your kind words. It’s motivation me to continue to add content on the channel. Something I tell my self will this next video help anyone out? But you truly answered that today.

Awesome video... I might have to change the water pump on my 2004 Hyundai Elantra changed the thermostat. Thought it wasn't working but that wasn't the problem. Vehicle is not overheating but the lower radiator hose is usually cool. Not warm at all...

Watching to brush up on the procedure since it's been a while since I did mine last, and I'm due for a new belt, tensioner, idler, and water pump since mine is leaking. First of all, very good video. Only complaint would be your positioning of the Timing Belt on the Cam Pulley. That should be centered on the pulley, or there is a risk it will contact the inner timing cover. The tolerances are super close between the belt and cover, and if it rubs the inner cover it will damage the belt. Ask me how I know. 😂 First time I did mine at 80k I set it how you did, to the outer edge of the Cam Pulley, and shortly after started hearing squealing that I mistook for a loose drive belt at first. When I saw a hole in my upper timing cover and rubber dust around the hole I knew what it was. Had to do the belt all over again. Whoops. Hoping someone can learn from my mistake. Anyway, thanks for the vid so I can remember the process.

Do you have to move timing cover if you was just changing the water pump only???
@oscars-autorepair3236 Жыл бұрын
Great question. The timing belt must be removed completely in order to take the water pump. Their is no way to remove the water pump without taking the timing belt off

Do you think I could do this job without jack stands and the vehicle on a four tires down..
@oscars-autorepair3236 Жыл бұрын
Hi, i wouldn’t recommend it. Definitely use jackstand to secure the car. Even with tires, the car can roll.

Does the water pump need replacing as well?
@oscars-autorepair3236 Жыл бұрын
i did replace the water pump, the water pump itself was 38.00, since your going thru all this work just to replace the timing belt its definitely and highly encourage to change the water pump. you don't want to do all this work and down the road have a failed water pump and have to do this work! trust me you will be kicking yourself for not replacing this inexpensive part.

Why did you changed the water pump
@oscars-autorepair32362 жыл бұрын
I changed the water pump due to having a small leak and the customer got tired of always putting water on it
@BryanByTheSea2 жыл бұрын
May as well as having to change it later involves almost the same amount of tear down and work. Why do it twice. Perhaps if it was the first belt change you could do without changing but I would certainly do at the second belt change.
