I just finished doing my intake manifold and I unpluged everything putting it back together was a drag...I wish I would have come across ur vid first.....leaving everything hooked up would have made it alot easier....Thanx

Have looked at other vid's do this. Most are 40++ min long. And they all have you take off every single thing. Whereas you just unbolt and set it aside. Brilliant!!! Your vid is no BS side talk and to the project. Plus you give info on tool size. Best repair vid ever.

Other videos on KZbin show mechanics disconnecting everything. Including fuel rail lines, throttle body and throttle cables etc.. etc.. Unneeded extra work. ECANIX GARAGE right here is the best, easiest way of doing your intake manifolds. Wish I knew this 8 yrs ago when I did my first one. Have to do one tomorrow on my 2003 Grand Marquis. Doing new plugs, new coils and a new temp sensor, thermostat at the same time. Thanks again!

It sucks that such a well build engine has this annoying and somewhat expensive problem. My 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis was used on Scotty Kilmer's channel and he loves the cars. Just wish Ford didn't cheap out on plastic.

Mentioned @ 11:16 is the difficulty you had in unbolting an already loosened bracket you are lifting up. Unfortunately you have no coverage of the problem: It involves the removal of a stud which bolts the lower part of the shown bracket. The stud cannot be seen. It is screwed into the D/S cylinder head. This is the major difficulty in removing the IM from FOMOCO passenger cars and I was hoping to see if you had any approach which would make it easier.

Thank you, thanks to you, THANKS to all of the 'Mechanically Inclined' for what you are willing to tackle that for the rest of the population is unfathomable. It truly is just amazing to us whom rely on your talents. I traded a solid and dependable '09 Tacoma regular cab 4X2 w/67K miles for a 2001 beautiful Grand Marquis that had been driven by the 'Church Lady' once a week to and fro church on Sunday; (so went the story} and then she parked her luxury liner in her garage the rest of the week only stopping on the way home to alight a neighbor or two whom she had chauffeured to Sunday's sermon. She has passed on since and this beautiful car caught my eye and I didn't need a pickup as much as my ego wanted this dark blue carriage topped faux convertible over a light blue sleek body that shined and then I swore it spoke to me, "Take me!" So yes, only too late now I have found out that troubled waters lie ahead. This 16 year old beauty may only have just over 54K on the odometer and a CARFAX that read like a juvenile delinquent's rap sheet but I feel I took a wrong turn that is going to cost me a 'Grand' or two in green backs before I feel I will go any farther than the 20 or 30 miles round trip to work and the grocery store. I continue to search out stories as I find owner's that I meet as to how long it was before they did the repair, replacing this manifold, as you might expect most did the repair before 100K when the thing cracked and so I expect I'll keep a watch out for that sweet sickening smell of coolant save $1,000.00 find a reputable and talented mechanic and switch out the OEM for the best replacement I can get at the time. I 'Liked' watching your video and felt that if I had the nerve to attempt the repair that I'd be grateful to have your video to get me through the miserable task.

i am ready to replace the intake and i rushed to buy the aftermarket one with the built in gaskets, but i actually found many videos physically showing the flaws of this "upgraded" model. I was able to get a good deal at the dealer for the proper Ford one with metal ceossover and metal threads for the coil bolts, separate gaskets (basically just replacing the gaskets in the future) and it comes with water housing, thermostat and upper hose. For everyone out there wanting to spend the extra 200 for peace of mind

I just finished up, taking my buddies manifold off... ( Grand Marquis 2000 LS). that's where my good luck ended... I found oil on the plugs (coil pack side) what should I do now? also finding sludge in the lower manifold coolant ports; more so on the drivers side.. my question is what should I do now... I have read that I need to replace the valve cover gasket and seals. Is this true? Also will I have to remove the master cylinder and booster? That part sort of scares me as I have never done one... Once I got everything out I did find that removing the windshield wiper assembly and motor gave the access to those rear bracket bolts... note: I checked inside ports ( had a good bit of char but didn't see any oil inside them or burned intake valves.. Good sign? We did choose to go with Dorman HOWEVER the part did come with an edit... the holes for the coils are now metal... and I got two brackets... didn't go dealer due to cost...
@ecanixgarage1106
@ecanixgarage1106 5 жыл бұрын
Chad Cutlip no you won’t have to remove brake components.. the oil on plugs could have been from the previous intake leaking.. the valve covers don’t usually leak from the high side( the side nearest the plugs) however if it is, change them out.

Be careful if swapping intakes. My 2000 towncar intake was cracked where the rear hose hooks up. I also have a 2001 town car. I removed the intake off of it, to swap it for the 2000. As my luck goes, the intake off of the 2001 is deeper. The coolant tube that is under the intake on the 2000(same as car on video), , goes around it on the 2001 because of the larger bottom, so it won't fit on the 2000. Grrrrr, Ford!

F putting that stud bolt back in on bracket, not needed. I replaced plugs, coils and injector seals. Just to be sure. Also cylinder head temp sensor. I was thinking changing the knock sensor too. If the surface is pitted use some permatex black in that area. You don't have to remove the tube on EGR if stuck , take 2 bolts out of throttle body. Careful putting it back together if you drop any thing it might go down under the intake.
