It’s trash!! You can clearly see the design is quite close to the old Dorman crab, I don’t understand what the issue is with making the OG..
@MustangFord5 ай бұрын
@@NewEdgeDesigns The issue is with the rights holder. Ford partnered with a company, and that company owns the rights to the design of the original PI intake. So Ford partnered with Dorman to release this version that is MUCH higher quality and it has upgrades. Like the metal tube that goes to the heater core in the back. It used to be plastic, now its metal. They also upgraded the aluminum crossover in the front, its is now ALL aluminum down to where it mates with the engine. Before there was plastic underneath the aluminum crossover on the drivers side, where the thermostat goes. They also upgraded the plastic material, its much more better quality than the material used on the original PI. It also doesnt need gaskets because they are integrated. Its Ford quality that is UNMATCHED by any other brand out there. The design might affect horsepower by a tiny amount, but you have 4.6 that was released in 1993, so be happy or go find a used old P.I intake. If you want to go racing, get a better engine or a different car. ITS OLD NOW. The choice is yours. Its almost unheard of that a car company like Ford releases parts after DECADES later.

@dalelockett26196 ай бұрын
IMHO.......the only thing that needs to be understood by the phrase "Off Road Use Only" is that this Ford replacement OEM PI intake manifold wasn't independently tested to certify compliance w\ the EPA Federal OEM emissions certification stds of the MY 4.6L 2V engines from 1999 thru 2004 & nothing else..........has nothing to do w\ any rated engine HP\TQ outputs based solely on this intake manifold's plenum & runner design. The truth is that this is more related to the cyl head's port velocity\volume design than the IM..........FWIW.

I'm sitting on quite a few intakes that I've used for my PI swapped 98 GT, including a rare HPS Hardballer and original FRPP SVO w/the matching SVO heads. That difference in performance and quality vary more than most realize. The coolant port towards the back has broken on at least 2 of my OE PI intakes. Personally I found this VERY interesting! I'm also glad Ford continues to offer new parts for their heritage vehicles. Great video I appreciate and enjoyed it very much!
@davidduker44416 ай бұрын
I also had many issues with the Dorman product, it can work but is IMHO the worst choice
@MustangFord6 ай бұрын
@@davidduker4441 It looks like the coolant port for this new one is a two piece design and apparently the coolant port for this new intake is made out of metal. Also the thermostat housing is metal all the way through to the bottom where it meets the heads, where the original P.I intake and the Dorman are plastic underneath. A nice upgrade in that aspect for sure.

Obviously selling this as a “Ford Performance” part is misleading, bordering on fraud, but one thing I see in the video that makes me happy is that the aluminum crossover FINALLY seals directly to the heads! Since almost every PI manifold fails where the plastic manifold and aluminum crossover meet, this new design should mean never having to replace the manifold again! I still wouldn’t use it on a car where performance is a concern, but for the countless panther cars and daily driver SN95s, it could be a decent option.

Can Anyone tell me if this intake will fit a 2007 f150 4.6 2v. Mine is leaking and Ford has Discontinued the factory intake for the f150s. The Dorman has mixed reviews and I would like to use a Ford part as i believe it will last longer i do not care about hp gains or losses just longevity. Any thoughts or advise would be much appreciated Thanks!

No. Although it will physically bolt up, there were other attaching pieces that were specific to the F-150 intake manifold. -Landan

So what I took from this is I'm just better off pulling a used one from a Junkyard panther platform car or finding an old style one for sale on ebay that was never taken out of its box like I did back in 2021 for my own crown vic

What am I missing? My 2010 LTC already makes 239 HP and 287 fp of torque. The 2010 PI Crown Vic has 250 HP and 297 torque. This would be less HP and torque than my LTC.

Those ratings are at the engine's flywheel. It takes power to turn the drivetrain (transmission, driveshafts, axles, wheels). The horsepower and torque shown in the video is at the rear wheels. Think of rear wheel horsepower and torque as your take home pay after taxes are taken out. Let me know if you have any questions. -Landan

@@latemodelrestoration Thanks for that answer. I always thought the company specs were at the rear wheels. What is the crank HP and torque of the PI manifold engine or what is the rear wheel rating for a stock 2010 LTC?

@@altg5708 I don't know the rear wheel horsepower and torque numbers of a Lincoln Town car since I've never dyno'd one. I have dyno'd a Crown Vic. I'll leave a link below. -Landan kzbin.info/www/bejne/omitZ4dsnpuBa6c

I'm sure these aftermarket companies are going to start making a killing ie trick flow specifically lol

I can’t believe they made an intake that makes less power than the original.

has anyone ran the autotecnica FD1413042 manifold on their 2v? i wonder how it stacks up against these

Blows my mind that your losing power from the original intake. What is ford thinking with messing with runner length... its not a coyote motor.

@@marine0331inf There are off brand OG PI intakes on EBay, I actually have one on this Sonic Blue GT that I’m flipping, but it’s not on the road so I can’t really test it.. I wonder if these EBay intakes are the best option??

Almost spit my drink out when you said we’re talking about 9-10 hp on a 2 valve mustang making under 300 whp 😂 you’re right. Who cares
@Ensource6 ай бұрын
that is true, but when you want all you can get from a slow, stock engine without spending like 6 thousand to make it actually start to wake up…

Plenty of people, since there's still a big market for the mod motor bolt-ons. I always love when r*t*rds like you play yourselves when you *think* you're being a hotshot 😆 🤣

I think the point here with the 10hp is that it confirms it’s not a copy of the dorman and it’s a quality built part that won’t lose you hp
@BigCountry-df9rj6 ай бұрын
@@gregd829but it does lose over 10hp against a stock PI intake 😂

My man is tripping over himself trying not to say anything bad about the mid new intake.
