It goes to show you that knowledge is power. I'm sure the previous owners spent allot more than $80 for that aftermarket security system and in the end, they didn't have to. I'm glad I was able to remove it and get the car back to original condition.

You don't have to get a new set of Tires for the Car just get those Tires turned Raised White Letters turned in my 95 Roadmaster has Raised White Letter Tires but you can't tell because the Raised White Letters are on the inside of the Tires with just Black Walls showing it looks great like this it has the same Wheels as yours has too

This seems kind of odd to me. For my '95 Buick Riviera, according to a few videos I've watched, I'm supposed to use a jumper wire or in my case a paperclip and insert one end in pin 4 and the other in pin 8 of the diagnostic plug under the dash to put it in program mode then turn the key to the on position and hold lock and unlock for 30 seconds on the remote. I'm supposed to hear the locks cycle and then it should be programmed but to know evail. The gentleman that we recently bought this car from said that he put new batteries in the remote but that it still needed programmed. I'm stumped as to why it wouldn't work and also curious why your Buick has a different procedure than ours.....

Does it honk the horn when you press the 'lock' button twice?

No. It's a pretty basic system that just controls the door locks and trunk release. There is no factory alarm capability.

if you have a used key fob that was programmed to a car previously, can you reprogram it to a new vehicle (same type of car) or do you have to purchase a fob that was never used prior?

do these cars have factory immobilisation / antitheft controls ? Perhaps that was the real purpose of this mod if not.

***** I was a little skeptical of the Passkey system on such an old car (18 years) but thus far, it hasn't given me a lick of trouble. The ignition key is brand new so perhaps the resistor pellet in the old key did in fact give the previous owner some trouble which may have been corrected with the new key. Time will tell. It's a simple system by today's standards, but I think very effective.

It's kind of funny I'm having the same problem with my 93 Lincoln Town Car the keyless entry fob little hook that hooks onto your key chain broke off so you're alway misplacing the darn thing but evidently it cost a lot to program them so I wish I could figure out how to do it on the Lincoln Town Car and buy a new one and just reprogram it.

I'm not sure how they're done on the newer Town Cars. It wouldn't surprise me if the procedure is similar. Instead of having a pigtail to jumper, you may have to access the computer via the OBDII port.

***** I used to work for Hertz rent a car back in 95 and 96 when those were brand new some Crown Victorias had white walls with those exact rims and it looks like your Grandpa's did not I guess it's just a particular tires it came with the rental cars all had white walls I remember
