This is a documentation video of what is possibly the worlds nicest original untouched 1996 Brougham undercarriage. This car has been in my collection since roughly 2010 of which I purchased it from the General Motors museum. It has 810 miles in 2024, it is untouched by human hands as much as possible and it has sat in a museum environment all its life. This is not a sales promotion, it is here for future reference of what one of these cars should look like and this is a Arlington, Texas plant car of which the impala SS and the Buick roadmaster were made alongside these cars so they will have a lot of the same Factory assembly look from the bottom. so for those who want to restore a car document a car, or can’t remember what original actually looks like, that is what this is for.

Beautiful car. I have a '84 Fleetwood Brougham sold thru a Don Massey dealership. It still has the Don Massey tag on the rear trunk lid. I believe purchased at Don's original Cadillac dealership. Don was one if not the largest Cadillac dealers.

GREAT VIDEO I was 20 years old in 1996 driving my first car which was a 1985 Sedan DeVille.... I have always loved this car and just might end up still getting one if I find one in great condition in the next couple of years or so.... this is arguably the last of the great big Cadillacs

I have a 95 White and White Vinyl coach like top with blue leather. Exactly like this that I bought in Phoenix 14 years ago. 37,000 miles. I’ve done much work on it replacing transmission cooling lines, new brakes, New Opti spark new OEM radio with CD, And more and the paint and and lower chrome is a 90 out of 100. I have babied it in the north and always garaged it conditioned too. …so ready to sell. 59,000 miles. I liked it for the comfort, power and it drove darn nice at 75 mph interstate. Many have complimented me. I wish we had cars like this for cruising luxury now. I miss those comfort cars. And I’m your age so I remember some really nice older cars.

I know what you mean about those darn side speers. A guy in Southern California sells them and I bought 4 and they are real metal and backing adhesive. Super nice. But don’t buy from the guy in Northern California! His don’t have adhesive on them and the metal isn’t shiny. My bright work is extremely nice and not one dent on lower exterior.

All the Roadmasters and Fleetwoods had the vents. I am not sure when the Corvettes, Camaros and Firebirds finally went to vented Optisparks. I also suspect the Caprice and Impala also all had the vents.

It’s coming don’t worry trying to hit 200k first. The truck also still has the original belt on it the original water pump and the original air filter believe it or not. Yes I take the air filter out and blow it off with an air hose but it’s the original one. I have been doing this since 2010 just as a I don’t care kind of testament to see what it would actually do. If I blow it up I was gonna put a 6.2 in it but so far so good and I think I’ll wear the rest of the truck out before the engine goes

Had an 00' Durango with a bad rear main seal, left droplets every time it was parked. Calculated it was cost effective to add dollar tree oil at the time instead of fixing it. 280k miles daily drove it for 2 years sold it like that. It's still be driven to this day. 4.7 magnum with a little milkshake. Added oil weekly. Coolant monthly. Never ran hot. Still running. I've seen lack of oil changes kill 4 and 6 cylinder cars even v8s like the 3v but the 5.9 and 4.7 magnum are basically bulletproof and the mighty LT1 is the most slept on engine from the 90s

Yeah, the L05 engine from 1993 was a slug. The L05 was the optional engine on the 1990-1992 Broughams. I had a 1990 Brougham with the V92 and the L05. It was such a slug compared to my 1996 Brougham. I had 2 V4P Broughams one 1996 with vinyl top delete, and a 1995. They were quite fast. But for some unknown reason, I had a 1994 Brougham without the V4P, so it had 2.93 gears, and it was the fastest LT-1 D or B body I have ever owned. I guess it was built on a Wednesday.

The condenser on R134a cars have smaller and twice as many tubes and finer and more numerous fins too. Those who think simply changing the fittings and oil to convert to R134a being sufficient are kidding themselves.

Find an FE2 car in the junk yard, or a 9c1, change the springs, and the sway bars, and put some good shocks on it like bilstein.. sorry about the video quality I may start shooting in a higher resolution soon, but it does limit people with limited bandwidth. If you want to see the car, just go to my website, you can see 28 megapixel pictures of it there done with professional Canon camera.

They are amazing as everyone wants to say. Were cheap built pieces of {?} from GM back in the day!!! Headliners failed, spheres on fenders failed, due to being made of plastic. Interior was no match to the D' Elegance package of 92. No OPERA lamps for that "upscale" ambiance. Really, what is there to preserve for the Cadilliac purist??
@gm-classics
@gm-classics 6 ай бұрын
Yea all those are issues.. no car is perfect… i was around when people were throwing 911’s in their yard in dallas as they could not take the heat and burned up in a year…. Old Cadillacs even from 50s 60s were crap body lines new, we expect perfect now and the restorations are much over done. A new honda mini van will blow the doors of car shelby’s best 66 mustang…. A duramax truck with a 10000 lb trailer will beat a 79 camaro in a race…. On and on it goes…. Classic cars are about preservation.. as i can testify, there is not a one of them that is really fun to drive unless its highly modified…. But then its not original…. And then no one cares…. So classic cars are really a “you cant have fun” self abusive hobby… and its certainly not for everyone

The frames are very weak on this platform. I have crushed several of these and on the limos and hearses the front and rear of the car get folded so it will fit in the crusher. One fork on the loader bends these frames and the whole car like a pretzel. The crusher doe’s the rest. If I were to own one of these I would definitely reinforce the frame. That is one nice car though!

Matt, I tried to buy the white 2,300 mile 94 Fleetwood Brougham from you back when I was in Iraq. $25K wouldn’t do it. I don’t like the mirror placement on the earlier models and prefer the 96’s because they have OBDII and the mirrors on the corner of the window. But hey, question for you. Nobody has the belt tensioner for these cars with the heavy duty cooling. I bought a 33K white Fleetwood but in 2016 got a 22K Buick Roadmaster. That’s the car I need one for. Any lead? Thanks
