I remember seeing this interview as it was yesterday. I watched Gordeeva and Grinkov for years. Their speed and technique were so perfect. Their blades were so quiet. Their programmes so beautiful and elegant, always looking at each others eyes. They were so admired and loved. We all felt the loss in those days and months. And in gorgeous Daria, a piece of Sergei remains. I see her now and I see Sergei in her smile. It still seems like yesterday but it's been 27 years already.

@tarolyatarolya123010 ай бұрын

Wow bitter much? I am 41 Katia and Sergei you're my favorite skaters growing up in addition to Scott Hamilton and Kurt Browning. It is very clear even now that she loved him. Anyone who talks about them still will tell you that. She was young and yes she always had him to lean on she never took him for granted. I can't imagine losing my best friend, my skating partner, husband and father of my daughter. That is a lot to lose in one go and that completely life changing and life-altering by any standards. I think people take for granted how long they think they have with somebody.. we all do that? How often have you put off calling your parents, calling your siblings, calling your best friends, calling your children? Thinking oh there's always tomorrow or next week. My mother died a decade ago we did not have a good relationship the majority of my life. Loved her but she was very strict and traditional and remained that way for her entire life. But I called her every single week never missed and moved out at 18 For 5 years before my oldest nephew was born she wouldn't even talk to me but I still every single to holiday regardless of what she thought of me. And that says a lot on my part. Point being here is most people would have not done what I did. But I'm a better person because of it. And having a disability trust me you learn very early on to take nothing for granted. As a skater she has been privileged to have a life that she has and when she speaks about it you hear it. I also begged my mom for both books she had written. I got my Sergei. for Christmas. And a letter to Daria for Easter as they were published I still them despite having a house fire and losing everything they remained at my mother's. Perhaps you should read them if you haven't or read it again.
