Since this is a show about an old man opening
old packs I have 2 old packs to open today!
1996 Score Pinnacle Hobby football card packs.
10 cards in each with Junior Seau on the front.
The base set has 275 cards
54 of which are hall of fame players like
Emmitt Smith,
Dan Marino,
Jim Kelly,
Michael Irvin,
John Elway,
Deion Sanders,
Jerry Rice,
Thurman Thomas,
Barry Sanders!
There are also 32 rookies in the base set including
hall of famers
Marvin Harrison,
Jonathan Ogden!
But before I rip these 2 packs I wanted to thank the
Detroit Lions for the greatest season of my lifetime!!
I was born in 1961, just a few years after Bobby Layne
cursed the Lions for trading him. My dad was a helicopter
pilot for the Army and as a kid, when I was 18 I had moved
18 times. Regardless of where I lived I was always a LIONS
fan, mainly because my Grampa Johnson loved the LIONS
and I loved him!
During the 1960's the Lions has 5
winning seasons but zero playoff appearances.
During the 1970's the Lions had 3 winning seasons
and one brief playoff appearance.
So by the time I was 20 the Lions were 0-1 in
the playoffs during my lifetime.
For the 1980's the Lions had 1 winning season and
2 more first round exits from the playoffs.
So that's 30 years with 9 winning seasons and a
0-3 playoff record.
Then the Barry Sanders decade started!
In the 1990s the Lions had 5 winning seasons and
6 playoff appearances. Sadly, during that time they
went 1-6.
So I'm 40 years old and the Lions playoff record
during my lifetime is 1-9.
The 2000's saw 1 winning season and no playoff
appearances.
The Calvin MEGATRON Johnson & Matt Stafford era
brought 4 winning seasons and
3 first round exits from the playoffs.
So now I'm 60 and for my entire life the Lions have
15 winning seasons and 1 playoff win against 13 playoff
loses.
And that brings us the the last 2 years. 2 AMAZING SEASONS
that I can't really put into words other than to say that I
wish my Grampa Johnson could have been around to
see this. He went to his grave talking about Bobby Layne
and the 1957 NFL CHAMPIONSHIP! He also loved
BARRY SANDERS and I know he would have loved the
DAN CAMPBELL Detroit LIONS!
Lets take a look!
Found: Brett Favre, Tony Boselli, Jim Kelly, Michael Irvin.
That was fun!
