Weird call. Glad it didn't make a difference to the final scores. In no way did that interfere with, or distract his delivery. Even with the quick lane cycle, he left a stone 6 count and there was no chance he'd get any late falls... before the table came down.

They didn’t give him the shot over because of a distraction; the sweep actually hit the ball on the way down. That’s absolutely interference. It could just as easily have knocked the ball into the gutter or anywhere else.

While I love watching these old broadcasts...and thanks BuddiesProShopcom, I find it really annoying during that time (and possibly today), that the pin sweeper comes down immediately as the ball is entering the pins, partly obstructing view, esp. if they show a slow motion shot... Was this to save time??? Anyone have any opinion on this?
@dp92492
@dp92492 3 жыл бұрын
Yes it is very annoying. But they had to do this with the GS series of pinsetters because the deck / table runs so slow. That’s why if you watch the updated GSX machines within the last couple years, you can see the sweep come up and drop a couple inches on spare shots. They are still trying to make the GS series run as well as a pinsetter they designed 50 years ago. As and A2s are the best

@@dp92492 Hey, Thanks a lot for that info. I think the problem is pretty much solved by now or is better...I hope.

If the PBA could hit the reset button, I'm guessing they would have tried to lay out a pattern that was more even for righties and lefties, especially in a major. In fairness, there might be just as many tournaments in which righties have the advantage, but it's easier to tell when the lefties have it. By the way, if Couch strikes on his opening shot, they don't make him shoot it over again. Just saying. I realize there was a distraction, but that ended up giving him a "Mulligan".

Didn't seem to matter what pattern they put in that center, lefties always had a better look.

If they're so worried about running behind, why don't they just do away with "Championship frame?" Especially that there are commercials on either end of it. You didn't see ABC telecasts wasting time like that!!
