Great Mike, now you've got me wishing I'd never sold my old '98 300Tdi Disco 1. That's not a too bad old V8, but from the roof rust I'd say there'll be lots of rust elsewhere. I can remember only a few years back they were cheap as chips, not so many around now.
@BritannicaRestorations2 жыл бұрын
Yes, parking it in a wood did it no favours - the underside is rotten. It has had some rustproofing done in the past as the doors are not that bad - rear is very good I had a 2 door 300Tdi D1 in the UK, and it was the best Rover I ever had - simple, practical and very reliable
@tom_tractor_trailerscotrai28092 жыл бұрын
Other things worth having that were an improvement over the Range Classic: airbox, gearbox oil cooler, seat switches. The 24spline drives are good to go on the RRC to replace the 10 spline just cos easier to get. I have the same colour model in 300tdi auto and just been from Scotland to the Pyrenees in it.
@BritannicaRestorations2 жыл бұрын
Seat switches will be sold on as I am changing them to the better D2 switches The axles will be refurbished at some point, but not for this vehicle, as it already has 24 spline axles

I look forward to you firing the fire engine red beast up Mike. 👍🏻🙏🦘🙉🙈

Careful about fitting the headlamp washers. They're lower than the washer bottle so, if the check-valves are leaking, all the washer fluid can end-up dribbling out of the headlight washers. If it's all working, no worries. Otherwise they're more trouble than they're worth.

The first thing that we did when a car came into the yard was feel down the back of the drivers seat and the back seats. Got a few good treats now and then. If there is money in breaking it, then break it. Dont spend money on repairing. You lucky bugger. Yorkshire Rob.

Oh god, this is in better shape than my 97 and mine is a daily driver. I’ve had one since they were new. I wonder what the red aftermarket switches on the console are. The fact that it has no sunroofs / original radio / luggage cover/ Jack/ roof bars make it shockingly rare now. I love these things, especially the 5 speeds and the fact they’ve basically become throw away cars (that’s changing now) means they are not that common any longer. Easy to work on, parts are cheap. Love them.

I have a disco 2 TD5 autobox HSE with leather seats and with all gimmicks since 10 years , not a single breakdown , no issue at all , except some dripps of oil ,now getting at 280000kms...no rust , runs like new , only had one issue doorlock on rear passenger side , thats all ...makes we think some are really reliable ...and no rain inside , with two sunroofs...so think and check twice before taking into bits ...

Looks like it was a nice, original example in either Rutland Red or Rioja Red, whichever, it is a really nice, deep colour. With this age and mileage under its wheels, it would have been well looked after for a great deal of its long life, when it was in use. Sadly, like the P38's that were sold alongside it, these Disco 1's and 2's are not often seen here in the UK anymore, since most ended up rusting away on the undersides. Others were just hammered and/or off-roaded to death. What's this one like underneath, rust-wise?

Hi, That DS1 is worth a fortune in EAK. A driveable DS 300 manual, 4 Dr sells for 30.ooo dollar plus , must be pre 1998 before electronic rubbish got in. That greenbox central-alarm-system AMR4886 , you threw by the side, is worth euro 800. Chuck it out on DS/DF 300,s, but it must stay in TD5,s or LR-Bronco,s otherwise engine will not start. As a LR-dealer over 60 years now, we have to sell at this price. The latest one is a black coloured box and is NLA at any price. Rgds Robert Burridge

How many of those 10As alarms do you want ? I have boxes of them because nobody wants them - these as you know are set at North American frequency so useless in Europe or here as so many of these D1's were scrapped as they were so rotten - like this one, and the dealers charged a king's ransom to fix any problem, they were dropped like a stone
