I have always found the backrest on my sportie to be useful. I could mount a backpack on the rear and a sleeping bag on the front and it gave me something to rest by back on.. It also gives the ladies more assurance that you are not going to dump them off the back if they don't hang on well enough.

I've built a 2-1/2 foot steel Sissy Bar for my 2005 750 Honda Spirit . Great channel and great Bikes . Looking at 1997 1200 H.D. Custom for sale nearby. Great review on the 1200 Harley you've just got.
