I'm sure it was quite a difference moving out West from back East. Definitely take advantage of the legendary trails out there, such as Moab, Rubicon Trail, and KOH in Johsnon Valley if you can. The West also is very open and has a lot of BLM land out there. You should be able to go on almost any trail you see. One issue is that there are less trees to use as a winching anchor, so you either have to find a rock or may have to use traction boards.
