Pretty pathetic he declined an interview after losing to Tiger, he’s a very poor sport!! Plus the broadcast mentioned his contract dispute with equipment manufactures during this production, (granted I know there is always two sides to a story) but he doesn’t sound like a class act to me. I listened to him over the years on the radio after the fact & he sounded fine, but he’s definitely a poor sport & golf is a gentleman’s game, so shame on him, he doesn’t get a pass from me.

The golf journalism world is probably sick to death of the hyperbole (I distinctly remember Dan Jenkins in Golf Digest trying his hardest to temper the Tigermania in the mid-2000s, haha), but you're absolutely right. @@pdc-cp4uv I forget which of the golf magazines followed up with him with an interview a while back, but the gist of it that I remember was that by the time he had won the Open in 2001, he had been nursing quite a few injuries that finally caught up with him. (It's also why he has a noticeable reverse pivot in his swing from this point forward - a testament to his talent that he still made it not only work, but competitive!) It further compounded with his driver "yips", and it combined with a general exhaustion from the pressures of the PGA tour.

I feel like calling it a Tiger Slam has pros and cons. David Duval vouches for it being a Grand Slam, it was 4 majors in a row, no matter that it overlapped seasons. In fact, numerous pros argue that it was an even more incredible achievement given that Tiger maintained the motivation, energy, and focus from 2000 through to the new 2001 season.

WOW, I can't believe how much time has passed since this win at the Masters. I'm seeing names on the Leaderboard I haven't seen for years, which brings me back to 2021 and the many Majors Tiger has Won since! I get so caught-up in watching this video, like the other "Tigers Greatest Moments" video's I have in my Video Library I forget that 20 year's has passed since this Event/Video. I just hope that Tiger can recover enough to be able to play and play well. I'm not a celebrity news watcher so I don't know of how is recovery from his recent car accident is going or any statements he has made concerning his recovery and thoughts about if he will play more Tournaments. My hope is to see him play again which I guess is a bit selfish considering how many special moments he has given us all throughout his career, but I also wish him a Full Recovery, even if that includes him retiring from the game he loves so much, if that's what it takes for him to remain healthy. If it does mean retirement for him, we still have a Treasure Trove of video's online we can enjoy and re-live those Many Special Moments Tiger has given us. Thanks Tiger and Goodluck in whatever you choose to do after retirement.

I'm very interested in how low can I actually get my score if I truly concentrate at this and use your technique I'm in a new place now with distance my short game has to get better putting is okay but choosing the right club when you're 120 yards out or 150 out whichever one making the right decision is key I'm sure you'll come out with a video on your short game soon thanks a lot You're humble student Eric Howard Sr

Given the number of one major wonders that have come and gone in the game since 2001, no way that someone will ever get near 4 in a row. Spieth got 2 in a row, but the US Open was pretty lucky.

Well played tiger. The only player to hold all 4 golf majors at the same time. Not even the great Jacknicklaus achieved that feat. Tiger is a worthy champion but his fellow Americans Phil Michelson and davidduval were major winners too later in the 2000s and 2010. Wonderful players each and every one respect to them.

the first and only time a player has won 4 consecutive majors, but he didn't win all of them in the same year. he won the '00 US Open, British Open, PGA Championship, and the '01 Masters... it's the closest anyone's ever come to the Calendar Slam (winning all 4 majors in sequential order in the same year)... Spieth won the first 2 majors in 2015, but came up just short in the final 2 majors. This is something we will probably never see again.

Just an observation ,when Woods had the body of a golfer, and not the body of a strong safety in the NFL, Just your average player on the PGA tour, and not chiseled with extra muscle it seemed like his game suffered a bit. From about 1999 thru about 2006 the guy was just unreal. Then the injuries changes of caddies surgeries marriage and lost of his father, and as I mentioned the weight gain, seemed to just derail what could have been just astronomical numbers, as it is now he is just arguably the greatest player that ever played, with more tour wins then anyone.

This was the last Masters before the substantial lengthening of Augusta, then referred as "Tiger-proofing" the course. The changes were controversial then, and as expected many players poo-pooed the idea. But boy, were they necessary! 13th played 485 yds! And 7,9,14,17,18 would be too short today, drive and wedge for most, not just for bombers. Anyway, Tiger won the following year too.
@bretts4544
@bretts4544 5 жыл бұрын
AndresSotoMarin Augusta only played 6985 yards in 2001. Will be 7475 with 5 being lengthened this year. They’d be shooting -20 or even better it they never lengthened any holes under the right conditions.
@TheLocalLt
@TheLocalLt 4 жыл бұрын
AndresSotoMarin the 2006 changes, plus the maturation of the trees planted in 1999, hurt Tiger much more than the 2002 changes. This combined to turned four of Tiger’s favorite birdie holes (7, 11, 15 and 17) into par or bogey holes. And it worked, at least until 2019, however even in 2019 Tiger found the “tiger proofing” trees at 11 right on Sunday but he was into the pedestrian walkway and had a clear angle. In recent years he’s probably played more from there than from the fairway on that hole. The tiger proofing worked, Tiger could easily have won the Masters ever year from 2006-2013 aside from 2012 (weirdly enough, since that was a solid year for him), has he been able to lower his score on those 4 holes each of those weeks he may have won 8+ green jackets by now. But the Augusta National knew that and didn’t want it, however they may have killed the Golden Goose a little bit too thoroughly, I have to believe they thought he’d win at least one of those, and then couldn’t imagine he wouldn’t legitimately compete for years after that run. They are honestly lucky he won last year, otherwise the changes would be looked at as having effectively ended Tiger’s dominance of Augusta.
