1997 MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE GST CRANK SENSOR REPLACEMENT! STEP-BY-STEP

This is a step by step guide to show all the DSM family how to replace the crank sensor because there is no video out there that explains how to replace this sensor. This sensor could be an issue to your car not starting or not staying on (in my case). I show you how to replace it without taking out the timing belt as well, that way you won’t worry or stress about messing up timing. @@youngkc8595 I'm still in the process of replacing that damn crankshaft sensor. The secret was to loosen the power steering fluid pump mount in order to gain access to the wires.

Ok question. When taking off the harmonic balancer, did the screws come out lefty loosy or are the threaded backyards? Mine seem stuck (rusted) and someone said they go reverse, is that right?

My car had the same exact symptoms, and I replaced crank sensor, but it didn’t do anything but make it worse it seems like. Could u maybe tell us what u found out the issue was?

Mine literally doing the same. 2 years still trying to figure it out. I've been looking into the crank sensor bc I've changed out everything fiuel and spark related. My issues is weak spark and weak injector spray so that's why I'm thinking the crank sensor. Did you ever figure it out?

Do you know what sensor my tachometer gets it’s reading from? My tachometer gauge is jumpy/bouncy only under load but performance isn’t affected.

What were the symptoms before replacing??? My GS warms up then cuts out, even had my tachometer need bounce crazy Could it be it?

Not 100% sure I’m greatful to have people knowledgeable to tell me what it was I needed but the needle bounce might be something else related to that

The 3rd crankshaft sensor that im paying for replace in 5 years with my Eclipse. Tired of this, im gonna replace by my self. Its hard to bent the timming belt to put the new sensor? This seems to be the worst part lol

It’s alittle difficult to bend it yes but you just have to be carful to not mess up the sensor passing it through the belt.

I thought it was my crank sensor also. Replaced it and still didn't crank and start. Got fuel, air,.compression, gas, everything. I got it to start when I turned the key on without the coolant sensor plugged in.

It’s kinda frustrating right! But I’m taking it to someone soon and hopefully they can help me out with that. I hope you can get yours figured out as well I bet you miss driving that car already
