Watvhing this live in 1997 I was so enthralled by them that I didn't even notice the boos. They did a fantastic job. It is really hard to play/sing in a stadium (speaking from experience from performing with my HS marching band at Giants stadium back in they day.) The echo in the stadium can really throw you off. They were so young but they really kept it together, and the crowd totally responded. Hanson is stellar, as usual.

Did you ever hear any of their live performances of it? I'm a lifelong Hanson fan and even I prefer almost every other version of it over the Middle of Nowhere version, simply because every other version lets their genuine talent shine through more! But either way, it was a totally misunderstood and underrated (in terms of peoples' reception, not in popularity) song with a lot more meaning than people give it credit for. But all that said: None of that is any reason for them to have gotten booed here! That was just purely people being rude and cruel based on their unfounded *assumptions* about 3 talented kids were who doing what they were passionate about (and doing it well) from an early age. And they sang the heck out of the anthem, as anyone who bothered to know a thing about them would have known they could!

For how young they all were back in 1997 they did a good job. I believe that Isaac did the best. Isaac did sound a little nervous to me. But he never missed a beat! Zac sounded nervous and fell a little flat. I feel that Taylor shouldn’t have added those ad-libs because they just don’t fit the song and it made the song a little disappointing to me. When Zac and Taylor said the word watched; ugh I listen just to that part of days. Now this isn’t one of my top favorite performances of this song but they were very talented then. And they’re very talented now.
