1998-2002 CG Accord Dash Removal Heater Core Replacement

Sorry for rambling and repeating myself. I filmed on my iPhone 8+ and I think I was covering the microphone for part of the video. I was tired and low on sleep. I hope I was able to explain all the things I couldn't find online. I haven't had heat in two years and the coolant looked like mud when I bought the car. No amount of chemical flushing is getting this thing unplugged. As of uploading, I haven't done anything else to the car. The heater box is coming out next and then the process of putting everything back together starts!
P.S. I filmed a lot of the interior removal but it's about 25 minutes of pointing out obvious nuts, bolts, small screws, and clips so I'm just not going to take the time to put it all together into a video.

I did this a while back I didn't remove the steering wheel or the steering column just removed the bolts at 1:37 and you should be able to drop steering column on the floor no need unbolt it at 1:01 Great video wish you uploaded it back when I did mine lol .

@@thelifeofriley815 yea I had an issue starting my car again I thought I had missed a wire connection or something I was very disappointed in myself... but come to find out it was just a loose wire with my aftermarket alarm. Definitely a job that you need to take your time with.

My heater core needs to be replace. Is it nesssry to remove the whole dash just to get to the core? I own a h onda accord coupe two door. Modle.

You could probably do it easier. I just pulled everything to see what was there and show where everything goes.

Do you know if I can remove the AC evaporator without pulling the whole dash? I was able to access the box for the air filter just not sure if there’s enough clearance. I think I have a bad TXV in there since my low side pressure drops below the cutoff even with a full AC charge. Foolish me didn’t heed the recommendation to replace the TXV every time I service the AC.

@@NicholasAndre1 you remove the ac lines from the the fire wall and then you basically just take it apart comes of watch a video of how to change the air filter and it makes it way easier

How do you pull the actual dash out. Ive been searching everywhere on how to . I have a 2001 honda accord lx .

I pointed out all the nut and bolt locations in the video. Once it’s loose you just pull to the rear of the car and carry it out the side door.

@@thelifeofriley815 Hey Nice video bro; im working on a honda accord 98 LX 2.3L and im having electrical problems in that area where the air conditioning evaporator (big black box) in the front passenger seat is located, its a open wire i presume, that trancends from my fuel tank pressure sensor, and with that and the dashboard in the way its hard to reach the wire to inspect it, from wacthing the video when you removed the dashboard it was attached to the frame aswell right ?

Yes and no. Different steps but you can just slowly take it apart and figure it out as you go. Look for some type of repair manual and it should get you pointed in the right direction.

This was a couple years ago. Still daily drive it after 8.5 years of owning it. 267k miles and 2nd owner.

What about the one screw in the center of the dash at the far front(back) of the top of the dash? Obviously it went in before the windshield glass cause I can't get the right angle to get anything on it and I've lost one number 2 Phillips bit down in there already 🤪

I remember that one I think I used a stubby screwdriver to take it out I don't really remember though but definitely a hard one to find.
