Very clear without being overly long or wordy. While I'm a seasoned DIY'er, it's very comforting to see what's involved before diving in. Thank you.

Just followed your video to install this on my car (2000 Honda Accord) after my wipers stopped in the middle of a snow storm and got the new part at the junkyard. It worked beautifully!!! For a female that knows nothing about cars but is also too cheap to have someone do it for her, this is exactly what I needed. Thank you thank you!!! Liked and subbed!

Thanks for your video. I was able to easily disassemble and get to the linkage assembly. Two of my linkages were broken causing significant flop of the wipers. Rather than buy A new assembly, I just went to the auto parts store and bought a $10 pack of generic nylon bushings and the problem is completely fixed.

Thanks for this video man! My wipers work again! I didn't replace the whole linkage though just the bars with the ball and sockets. But your instructions on how to remove the linkage was clutch. Thanks again!

Thank you, Dragan, for this excellent and informative video. Our 1998 Honda Accord on Maui needed this linkage replaced and the local Honda dealer wanted $329 for the part, plus who knows how much to install it. $32 from rockauto.com and about an hour of my time got the job done. Your step-by-step explanation made the job an easy one. Even my wife was impressed! Thanks again for posting this video - it save me a bundle!!

Thanks for this video. I just replaced the motor itself and the video showed me where the rest position was on the linkage itself, which needs to be set before adjusting the wiper arms after a wiper motor replacement.

Hey, I watched ur great video and was able to fix my wiper problem in my 2000 Accord. I was so lucky because I only had to replace one of the strut-arms and not the entire assemblage for only $10. Thx so much for taking the time to create this video for the world!

Perfect video. Mine are going over when they wipe and hitting the cowl so I’ll have to open it up and see what’s going on - if it’s the linkage or the motor and linkage.

Thanks for posting! Question, was the aftermarket linkage OEM Honda or another brand? I've read on some forums that you can usually get away with just replacing Rod Unit A (the top linkage).
@mrdragancelan9 жыл бұрын
+dreamliner1977 The one I used is an aftermarket linkage. Link for it is in the description. You can get away with replacing whatever link is affected but it depends on what has actually failed. I had a Honda Civic where one of the links actually broke right in the middle. But typically with old linkages like the one in the video, the joints are worn and are more prone to popping out. So I'd recommend replacing the entire linkage if this is the case for you. And thanks for watching!

+Dragan Celan Thanks! I missed the link the first time.

Great Vid! I’m in the process of replacing the linkage assembly. How do I ensure I order the right part the first time? Thanks! EDIT: just saw link to part. NM. 😁
@mrdragancelan6 жыл бұрын
Just make sure you order the part for the same model year of the car you're working on and make note of whether it's a sedan or coupe as the wiper linkage may differ between the two body styles.

When my blades are not in the intermittent mode they slam hard on the down stroke and on the upstroke they stop in random places sometimes going past the windshield and other times approx 3" away from the end of the windshield. Do you know where I should start looking? Thanks
@mrdragancelan7 жыл бұрын
Sounds to me like your wiper arms are not positioned correctly on the motor shaft and thus don't have the proper start and stop positions. If the positions vary, then chances are that the splines on shaft of the motor aren't doing a good enough job to prevent the wiper arms from spinning on the shaft. I'd recommend looking at the video at the 5:00 minute mark to help you position the wiper arm correctly on the motor shaft. That and a slight over-tightening of the nut on the motor shaft might help the splines dig into the wiper arm (tapered cylindrical surface) to prevent it from moving out of position. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your response. I will check that out first!

I have a 99 Honda Accord EX 4CYL 2.3L and my wiper blades smack hard on my front diver side window at medium to high speeds. Would this be my motor, linkage or something else possibly?
@mrdragancelan7 жыл бұрын
You're going to have to clarify what you're saying. Do you mean your wiper blades are hitting your A-pillar?
@amaresatterwhite7 жыл бұрын
Yes, the longer wiper blade does hit my A Pillar as well as can reach past it and hit on the diver side window when at higher speeds. Also when in motion, at times the wiper blades doesn't reach back down to its normal position before coming back up. As a result, when turning the blades completely off, they sometimes rest a little higher than they should onto the front windshield and I have to manual slide down to where they should correctly be.
@amaresatterwhite7 жыл бұрын
I only have this issue, at medium to high speeds or when it's heavily raining as if the wind/rain is to much for the blades to stop itself from going to far.
@mrdragancelan7 жыл бұрын
So chances are that the crank link has slipped on the splines of the motor shaft and thus has lost its correct home position. You'll need to dismantle the linkage and carefully look at 6:30 in the video to make sure that the crank link is tightened correctly in the home position. When you re-tighten that 17 mm nut, you may need to torque it down a bit more than necessary to ensure the splines of the motor shaft dig into the crank link and, thus, preventing it from slipping in the future.
@mrdragancelan7 жыл бұрын
Yea sounds like the splines on the motor shaft aren't doing their job. If you have the time and know-how, I'd take it out and have a look and maybe try what I suggested in my earlier comment.

my wipers work on the medium and fast setting but the lowest setting which is the interval one. the one that you can adjust the timing with does not work. Any advise someone can give me to narrow down the issue
@mrdragancelan6 жыл бұрын
It doesn't work at all or you just can't vary the interval?
@HowTwo0076 жыл бұрын
the eium and fast speed was working but the intermittent one was not. i tried it again yester day and all seemed to work fine so i am a little confused. wipers do seem a little bit slower on all speeds though some maybe some part of the wiper system is about to need replacing
@mrdragancelan6 жыл бұрын
When you tried it again yesterday and everything worked, was the engine running? If not, that would explain why the wipers were moving a bit slower. The extra voltage from the alternator help move the wipers that much faster when the engine is running.
@theonlydubbace82798 жыл бұрын
so if my drivers side doesn't work, can I just put the linkage back on?
@mrdragancelan8 жыл бұрын
Sure. I wouldn't expect it to stay on for long though. But I guess it's a good/cheap temporary solution.
@theonlydubbace82798 жыл бұрын
Dragan Celan would you say that's what the issue is?
@mrdragancelan8 жыл бұрын
That's what the issue was in my case. I had bought the part prior to replacing the linkage so I figured I would replace it anyways even if it was temporarily fixable.

@mrdragancelan7 жыл бұрын
+Fernandez Marquez If the old motor works and the new one doesn't, then we know the switch inside the car is functional and not the problem. Otherwise, neither motors would work. It sounds to me like the new motor is the problem. Why did the old motor work but the new one doesn't? Was the connector plugged in all the way when you installed the new one?

Mine work but they make a clicking sound every time they move any idea on what it my be?
@mrdragancelan8 жыл бұрын
That1TechGuy Not sure. It may be joints that are loose and ready to pop out of place or it could be links contacting each other. It's tough to say without seeing or hearing it.

So my windshields get stuck up. But my transmission still works? What would it be the tab?
@mrdragancelan7 жыл бұрын
+Young Notorious It sounds like the splines are in poor condition and are allowing the wiper arms to slip on the shaft.
@Youngnotorious17 жыл бұрын
Dragan Celan how much would that cost to get fix or can I fix it on my own?
@mrdragancelan7 жыл бұрын
It depends. Maybe all that needs to be done is to retighten the wiper arms nuts so that the splines on the shaft properly engage the wiper arms. But if the splines are beyond repair, you may need to replace the whole wiper linkage transmission. It all comes down to your capability and confidence.
