Bit of advice on the adjustment sleeve. Before you pull it hit it with a brief burst of spray paint. You'll be able to see exactly where to put it back to.

I need to do this on my '93 Concorde. Just make sure you don't take both 22mm bolts out at once, from the rack or the rack will slide and you'll need to re-align both of those holes by moving the steering wheel. I got some polyurethane inner bushings and when I did my brakes a couple days ago, I saw the outer bushings were toast too so I ordered those. Sure hope my steering has a lot less slop in it afterwords.

I have a question my car overheats now. It gets so hot that it bubbles up and I know my fans don't come on is it because of the fans and also my oil light flicks when it starts to over heat
@MikesRepairs869 жыл бұрын
+king Humble sounds like an air pocket possibly. I'd check that the thermostat is opening when at operating temp make sure the system is full and there is no air in the system. Also check the fan fuses and relays and that the fans spin freely, if it all checks out, try pushing 12v to the fans directly to make sure they are working correctly. if they don't kick on replace the fan assembly.
@MikesRepairs869 жыл бұрын
It could be a bad fan or fan controller. The oil light may be flickering because of the excessively hot oil or a bad pressure sensor.
@adventuresofdee78599 жыл бұрын
Ok Found out the fans work but still over heat I bought a new thermostat and water pump I'm putting those in this Sunday but I know I have good head gaskets so that can't be ill keep you updated

Nice vid. I think the inner rod bushing to the gear mount is 60ft Lbs and 40ft Lbs for the outer tie rod. Did you mix them up? I did my 2000 LHS and it was a pain... Before I let a shop do it for almost $300 with lifetime parts. They only did one side and didn't put the inner washer on the passenger side. About 1 1/2 year the bushing came apart. So I called the shop and ask them how much to replace it... they told me $252. Soooo did it myself & done it right this time....

i installed one of those racks in my mustang 69' ( i've seen in forums that they use that kind of rack to do the steering convertion). i have an issue..i thought that the steering play was because of those bushings, but when i replaced them, the inner tie rods, where it attaches to the rack, where the two bolts attach them, has play.. you can see the bolts moving up and down, like the piston inside was moving on its axis..idk if you understand what i'm trying to say..
@revwroth36984 жыл бұрын
These racks suck. I've had to replace the inner tie rod anchors twice in the past year and both times it's been because they let go while I was driving. It's like the cvts they're using these days: sounds great for a go kart but keep it the hell away from my adult vehicles.

Hey I know this Video was from 3 years ago But was wondering if you could tell me how you Bent your inner Tie Rod Tabs back in place ? I have recently done mine But I could not fully get them bent over the Bolts. They seem to be fine the way they are but it bothers me that they are not right.

Super long screw driver and a hammer
@RobPGamerVaper6 жыл бұрын
Really? Cause thats what I used. Maybey the new tabs are stronger ? I got Moog
@MikesRepairs866 жыл бұрын
Could always try a punch or a long cold chisel or a long impact bit out of the impact hammer.
@revwroth36984 жыл бұрын
This is extremely important, those stupid tabs are the only thing keeping your tie rod anchors from backing out while you're driving! I've had TWO let go on me when I was driving and now I recommend that you put loctite on the threads, and after you fold the tabs over take it to a freaking welder and have them put a couple of spot welds on the bolt heads. This is the stupidest design I've ever seen for a locking bolt. What was wrong with the old castle nuts, except for trying to get the pin out when it's caked in mud and you just broke your pliers?
@dwaynenewton1 Жыл бұрын
I know it's been a long time but I'll leave my method here for viewers. Use a large pair of channel locks. I start wide enough to squeeze the tabs a little then go to the next channel and squeeze some more if may sound a little fussy but it works better than anything else I might have tried.

Hi Mike I have 99 LHS 3.5, do you know where the oxygen sensors are located and how easy to get to?? From what I understand I need four of them.
@MikesRepairs866 жыл бұрын
There is one on each manifold on each side of the engine and one after the catalytic converter on each exhaust bank, should be that bad to remove them.

MB: Do I need to take off a bunch of stuff from the top of the engine or the bottom of the engine, is this something I can do rather easily without much disassembly?

Why is my wheels too tight to turn
@MikesRepairs865 жыл бұрын
If its after doing the tie rod ends, more than likely something is binding, fastened incorrectly. Look for rubbing while some one turns the wheel would be my first recommendation.

Those tabbed retainer plates are BULLSHIT! I have had two of them let go while I was driving a 300m in the past year. I replaced EVERYTHING just like you did and then some, and the stupid tabs bent back out, the anchor bolts started loosening, and the slack that created caused BOTH of them to shear clean off while I was driving the day before yesterday. Both bolts broke off in the rack so now I have to take it out to get the busted tips out. I HATE this car now.
@MikesRepairs864 жыл бұрын
My brother hated it as well, got rid of it a few years ago.

Hello Mike! Question why dont you show the actual installation of the part you say what you wanna do but stop just before the actual installation you leave me hanging on how actually you installed it or how you remove any of the bolts next time show everything other than that your good! victor
@MikesRepairs868 жыл бұрын
The install is the exact opposite of the removal, no surprises that I found. Sorry I couldn't show the install, my customer needed their car back to get it to an alignment shop before they closed that same day.
