So? I had one of these. When I was 18 I lived with my aunt and uncle in Vladivostok (ma went to complex treatment to Israel for half a year). So for studies uncle bought me one of these, dark grey colour made in 1997. Only 5yo it was like new with only 20 thousand miles on it, imported by uncle's friend from neighbouring Japan. And was dirt I mean DIRT cheap. And never broke. It is suuuuper reliable. For three years I made only a few visits to service and that's it. To this day it still drives, third car in my uncle's family. I was very surprised anyone would ever make a review for car I had. And now I'm crying out of nostalgia.

Daihatsus are pretty fun to drive, in quite an essence. Small, zippy, basic - pretty much everything you want as a parent if you wanna hand down a car to your kid who just passed their DMV test. I drive one of these (stock version, with the MY being '97) and can give you this solid verdict: Its quite an exercise in itself to drive these and if stuck in traffic, then you can't help but remain anxious as hell until the situation clears and you find a gas station in your route.

My friend has one of these and dude, they're awesome. And they can be quite comfy on long trips. We drove around 500 miles from Berlin, Germany to the Netherlands and 500 miles back to Berlin on one weekend and we were totally fine. And it's nice to have here in Berlin so you can park anywhere you want, do sharp turns at higher speed than the others around you slipping through the traffic and it makes so much fun. And you can drive it at 4 liters per 100 km without any problems which equals around 56 mpg
