If weinke, doesn't get hurt we blow Tennessee off the field in championship game ! They barely won against hands down the worst QB that ever played at FSU! Outzen. What a pathetic excuse for a QB. He made wake forest defense look like the 85 bears!

Outzen still managed to beat a very good Florida team that year. Tennessee's defense in 98 was amazing, and Weinke would've struggled against them too. A better shot to win? No doubt about it. But blow them off the field, put down the crack pipe. That defense made Tim Couch and Quincy Carter look pathetic that year. And y'all made NC State look like a decent team. So your presumption of a hypothetical, theoretical situation that never occurred is narcissism at its finest. GBO VFL Your football team started in 1947 lol!

@@justinbaranski5962 started in 47 and got more rings than 90% of colleges that been around for over a century! That's a good thing dipshit. That we've been around half as long and have achieved twice as much as most teams. Arkansas QB is the real mvp of the 98 Tenn team. I always thought fixed games were a myth until that game. Oh, well at the end of the day who really cares. Sports are just a distraction anyhow.

@@CoreyT127 Clint Stoerner was the Arkansas QB you are thinking of, but both Quincy and Tim were really good college QBs that busted in the NFL, but does not take away their college accomplishments. I wasn't trying to hate on FSU's legacy, as what y'all have accomplished in a short time is truly impressive. I'm a big Bobby Bowden fan too. Loved the documentary on him. My only beef was you saying you would've killed the Vols, which is just insane, because you can't live in a world of what ifs. What if Jamal Lewis didn't get hurt for Tennessee? Would we have ran for 300 yards against your defense? Maybe, but we can't live in a world of hypotheticals. What if we don't blow the game against Arkansas in 1999? We would've had a higher BCS ranking than Va Tech, which is how it was shaping up after their close win against a bad West Virginia team in November. We would have pulled an Alabama before Alabama won two titles without having to play in the SEC title game. Since Florida had the head to head and would've won the division had we both been 7-1. But again, I digress, because tying to live in a dream world scenario and assuming this would have happened differently if this or that had happened is fool's gold. Anywho, I wasn't trying to be an AH, just know that whether you had Weinke or not, you still would have had an uphill climb to beat our defense, which was just as good, if not better than yours, in that particular season. P.S. I've always wondered what happened to the those two guys that were painted Garnet and Gold that they kept showing in the Fiesta Bowl. Would be interesting to see where they are now in life, lol!

Auburn may have fired Terry Bowden and ended up with a 3-8 record the worst since 1950's. Then hiring Tommy Tuberviile and avoided the Seminoles again in the 1990's.
