1998 Honda Accord EX V6 Update: How the Mighty Fall

Just a couple of months ago, I uploaded a video that praised my 6th Generation Accord for just how well it has held up over the years, in spite of being almost 25 years old. Unfortunately, within a matter of weeks after that, it started to truly show its age. While I continue to love and value it, it has simply become a money pit and I’m at a crossroads of what to do with it.

Does your new accord have the CVT transmission or it's the current gen that is out now that has those? 4cyl or V6?

My new Accord (EX-L V6) has a conventional 6-Speed Automatic. I test drove a 4-Cyl with a CVT and couldn’t stand it.

$12,000 maintenance? How? May as well installed a new engine and transmission lol. The V6 is more smooth but I love the 4cy because it's a little easier to maintain..

Agreed on the 4-Cylinder. If I ever get another one, it’ll be a 4-Cyl EX with a manual. And as far as the $12,000-the first (and one of the most expensive) maintenance items was getting the transmission rebuilt ($2586 exactly). Aside from that, just constant oil leaks, suspension work, timing belt, radiators, power steering pumps, etc.

How much are you looking to get for it? Just curious what someone would pay for it. Auto or Manual?

The V6’s only came with an automatic. And I actually sold it last week-with the maintenance/repairs still needed, I let it go for $1400, a steal honestly, as most of these in my areas are beaten down.
