Thanks for this! Someone told me I would need the whole axle. And said cv joints, then the velocity joint and well it’s the u joint and I don’t need the axle to do it. Just hopefully saved this momma a couple hundreds but still gonna be smart and buy the part out jeep.

I have see this style Jeep with CV joints. It must be a newer year or a option.

I had a 1997 Laredo and always wondered why these are not CV joints. I had a 1987 Range Rover around the same time and it had CV joints. Just learned that a U Joint has variable output speed, hence the name for the Constant Velocity Joint.

They are also field serviceable, cv joints are one and done. Same ujoints throughout drivetrain carry spare and tools and repair anywhere. It's a Jeep thing, You wouldn't understand.
