I can confirm that this bike IS a 1997 model, as it was my bike (handy seeing the reg in the video as didnt know it was mine bike until the other day!) from 1999 to 2001. This video was filmed in the UK around the Cheshire area probably late 1998 and just before I purchased the bike from Bill Smiths in Chester in spring 1999. Can even remember the faff in finding the hump as they had misplaced it. Brilliant bike, went over to the Isle of Man TT on it twice and it only struggled up the moutain mile. Happy memories, I said goodbye to it with around 24,000 miles on it, most of which were mine....

I had a 98 SRAD 600 as my first bike (I'm in the US where that's normal) and I can confirm that the front headlight cowl on the 98's is different that on this bike so it must be a 97.

As the gentleman says in the video, this is a Suzuki GSX-R600 1997 model (not the '98). In 1998 the fairing designed changed and the windscreen stood up a bit taller and at a less acute angle so there was no problem reading the dashboard. Also in 1998 the engine change to fuel injection. The bike has comfortable ergonomics for a sportbike when compared to ones from the 2010's (contrary to what this reviewer said circa 2003).

It funny , a few years ago we all had 1000's and 750s then we downgraded to 600's and now we're once again moving down to smaller 500's /300's and 250's !

If I was in in the position in life this would be my choice as being a pillion passenger in 1999 at 100 mph,& felling very comfortable & confident with the rider I was with. TERIFIC MOTORCYCLE AS A PILION PASINGER

i wont kick it out of my garage being its a gixxer and its an srad and such a gorgeous bike. however i must have "low end torque", where i give it a bit and it has this strong pulling sensation. i hate to have to make it scream to get it to move. a larger displacement motor is a whole other universe.

these are impossible to find nowadays. Even if you manage to find one, every one of them has been irreversibly pimped out with chrome frames and chrome wheels. Would love to get another clean Bubble Butt as it was my first ever bike, back in 2004.

this review is wrong the first gsxr 600 in 1992-93 they used the same frame as the 750 but the one after that had a brand new design including frame so there isnt much difference but it aint the exact same, just thought id be a picky bugger for abit ;) haha
@Terraceview10 жыл бұрын
This does use the same frame as the 750. Same as the 92-93 oil cooled model.

Hmm... Im just about to go and see a 98 GSX tomorrow. In truth... Im not sure I want to now! 7 years ago, I had a massive accident that put me into a wheelchair. I was told I will never get out of the chair. Well, it has been 18 months now since I let the chair and I have been riding trikes. Last month I bought a little Honda 400/4 and while I love it, its too revvy and a little cramped for me. Looking at this, I see that his legs are cramped up and the riding style is just too ridiculous for me. I think that its a completely wrong direction for me to go. I was kind of hoping that the 600 might be a better option than the 400 I have... I used to own a ZZR6 and 11 and I think that the Sports tourer is clsoer to what I need. Either that or a Friggin MZ250 LOL

The video features a 1997 model. Find a 1998 or 1999 GSX-R750. They are collectable. But understand they are more difficult to ride compared to modern sportbikes. Firstly, there are no modern safety systems to save any mistakes. There is only one mode - track. Secondly the fueling is snatchy at low RPMs and you can even get power surges when the engine is hot which can make riding in slow turns more difficult than it needs to be. Also they do run hot like a Ducati Pinagle V4. Expect a cooked crotch. So I only recommend the SRAD if you live in a cooler North American or European climate where daytime temperatures are below 20 Celsius for most of the year. There is no modern slipper clutch so you have to rev match on down shifts - a skill not really required on today's bikes. But if you like a challenge then this is a good bike for that. You need 100% concentration.
