The 2 prongs on the terminal of the main positive cable (on top of the alternator) should be facing DOWN (toward the alternator) when re-installing. Somebody installed it upside down before the maker of this video began taking it apart. I did appreciate the hint of just taking the adjuster locking bolt out all the way instead of fiddling with the adjusting bolt to loosen the serpentine belt to remove/reinistall. Finally, there are torque values specified for the big pivot bolt (38 ft-lb) and for the adjuster locking bolt (13 ft-lb) to make sure they won't wiggle loose over many years of service on your new alternator.

That little bushing that needs to be hammered outward is always the most difficult part of the job on these Camry's. The old alternator looked pretty new, is it a warranty claim?

So, to adjust the tension bolt (the long vertical one), do the other two bolts need to be a little loose? Or only the front one? I replaced my alternator and belt, but the belt squeals now, probably too loose. I'm trying to figure out if I need to loosen those other two bolts first. Harder for me to do than usual because I don't have the best tools. Oh, and to make the belt tighter, that long vertical bolt needs to go clockwise, right? Thanks for the video.

Usually this happens when the belt is loose. The I would adjust the vertical one

If you're replacing an alternator do you have to replace the wires to if the wires are not corroded?

You are very lucky that you can get to the alternator like that, my car is the same year but it's hard to get too, for some reason it's backwards. Meaning the bolt that adjusts the belt is on the bottom not the top where it is easy to get too. so, keep that in mind people.

LOL, Okay, I'm going to be real honest here Hector, LOL... This was the VERY FIRST repair video that you did that showed you were VERY NERVOUS. You can be honest with us, what's up with that? Might even be his first alternator, replacement, the negative battery cable had been changed making it a 1/2 inch or 9/16, not a metric, and the post was butchered, needs a shim not a soda can pull tab, then before you remove any bolts always remove the wires and get them safely out of the way, then remove the bolts, with the adjuster being first, takes the load off the others, and because it's a replacement part, always check fit of the bolts beforehand, that striped bolt should not be left there, it could fall out and do damage to the car, the mounting bolts should not be tighten up until the adjuster has been set, saves force on the bolts, and just for the diyer on this engine the belt is fairly easy, but on some of the other ones you will want to use a bungie cord to keep tension on the belt, it will save you a lot of cursing, and for that sleeve all you need is a punch and soft blow hammer, a claw hammer is for wood. just my opinion.
