Tercels have to be my favourite Toyotas. Had a 83 and a 92. Great little cars.

I am 6'4", 210lbs and had one of these Tercels for a little while. 1998 green - automatic. I had enough room and the car was amazing on gas. Sold it and got a 2nd gen Lexus GS300, great car. But I do miss the gas efficiency and simplicity of the Tercel.

I daily drive a '97 White Hawk Tercel and it goes hard ngl. 129,000mi on the clock, still going strong and getting 25mpg currently (could be better, but it needs a bit of a tune)

It NEVER attract my attention.. not only recently in may 2020!!.. saw one guy driving one the other day parked it ..it may sound funy but the car was awesome!! Really modfide (body wise) but the interiour is stock to the bone with only a fold screen i didn't know what it was till i walked to him and had a word..good looking and he said it never broke down not even once!! i am striving one right now..

I love tercels. I have 2 of them now. One is a '97 2-door and the other is a '96 4-door.

I've owned 2 at different times, one was a '97 with 330,000 kms i bought for $250, which eventually my sister bought, and she's still driving it today. the second is my current daily, a '99 with 245,000 kms i bought for $900. They're tough little machines.

wow! the engine sounds great! my tercel is a 99' and has 308k on it. it sounds very weak and nothing like the one in the video, im jealous

My dad has one. His is called a Corsa, and has electric windows and mirrors. Great cars, he's had it for probably 20 years.Service it once a year it will probably go on forever. No rust, paint not peeling, helped by having a white colour. They are a short bodied, narrower version of the Corolla. As such they are very cramped inside and really only suitable for 2 adults and two children, or two small adults. The back seat is very cramped, I'm 6ft and always banging my head when I get inside. I refuse to go on a long distance trip in the back seat. They are a great commuter car, good on gas, cheap to service.1500cc engine, but quite nippy. The brakes, I find way too soft and weak.The steering is light and very responsive, the suspension is soft and comfortable and puts bigger cars to shame. Easy to park, runs on 91 unleaded gas. He's had a few minor repairs done to it, but nothing too major. I knew someone who travelled around the world working, he always said the first thing he did when he arrived in a new country was hunt one of these down as they are so cheap to run.

My tercel was a 1.3L 4cyl petrol engine it was a 5-speed manual gearbox and it lasted 18 years The best car my dad ever had. Sadly, its not longer with us :(

Nice video, thank you for sharing. I remember seeing these on the road all the time, back in the day. I have always been drawn to '" Plain Jane" cars. Simply less stuff to fix down the road. I figure I just may not have that $400.00 one day to fix a power window. And anyway what's so hard about twisting a knob 5 times? You have a pleasing persona and good style, Thank you.

How do you know that the car's odometer is calibrated in kilometers-if that is miles it would be almost 2 times as much. 103k KM =64k Miles. I assume you are in Canada. Are all cars there calibrated in metric?If that is equivalent to 64k miles on an 18 year old car,that is sweet.

Does that car not even have a passengers side airbag?? In the US, all cars starting in 1995 had to have dual airbags by law. I've seen some as early as 1990 that had them.

I have a '95, it has a passenger airbag. But the 95 has a different style dashboard even though it's the same generation.

@@CanadianBullFrog yeah he said that, but the engine that cause problems it's not the 5e fe which is the engine of the car in the video, actualy the 3e e that is considered one of the worst engines from Toyota, this engine is used in the Tercel from the generation before, the 5e is known to be a good reliable one
