1999-07 GMC/Chevy Trucks & SUV's Flasher Relay Replacement How-To

Thanks , I installed LED signals and got rapid flash but didn’t know I can use this module relay , almost cut into wires to install resistors, glad I looked further into your video

This was a great help - thanks. FYI - I took the flasher unit out of 2003 GMC Envoy (not LED). I realised you could open the unit up so did that and sprayed an electrical contact cleaner onto the electromechanical switches (3). Worked them back and forth a few times (gently) . One did seem a little sticky. Works fine now.

Thanks. Mine just started clicking on it’s own like the signal was on but both signals work fine. Just when off I get sporadic clicking from the relay. Guess I’ll swap it and see if that fixes it. Thanks

My left is on, hyper flashing- when they're off... when i switch to left or right, they work as normal- but when switch is off, the left front signal hyper flashes... not the rear left. front left only... 98 chevy 1500

Okay so he did his best. But in my 1999 GMC Sierra 2500 the flasher control is easliy accessible and is just to the left of the steering column in a small fuse panel mounted on the firewall.

So. I’ve got a 03 Yukon xl. I replaced the turn signal assembly. But the left turn signal still produces issues like your right. So I’m thinking this is the problem. I also have led turn signals with resistors wired. Thank you for making this video

Do you have a video for replacing the instrument panel on a GMC like this one? Sometimes my alt gauge works..sometimes it doesn't. I heard these GMC's have bad stepper motors

I went to replace mine and it nearly fell out in my hand. Pushed it back in and they worked find. It is often the connectors or corrosion that are the culprit, not the device.

i just installed LEDs for turn signals in back. i haven’t soldered resistors to eliminate hyperflashing yet. you are saying that if i replace flasher with led/incandescent compatible flasher that i won’t have to add resistors to the leds?

Just had to do this, holly fucking shit I wish my bottom panel had the clips yours had. I nearly had to disassemble the entire truck around the clip just to get those 2 indestructible pieces of shit unclipped. Idk what the hell happened in the manufacturing process of those clips but they apparently were made to hold a 1000 lb armor plate in place, not a little piece of plastic.

Could the relay also cause one side to flash rapidly like when a bulb goes out? My right signal is flashing fast but both bulbs still work. Thanks for the video!

That Novita Relay seems to have a slight delay with the hazards and even the indicators in mine Unit is fully installed.

My Novita does the same thing. Theres maybe a half second delay; just long enough to make second guess if it will work.

My left blinker stays constantly illuminated when I turn on my headlights, right blinker always works unless I have headlights and hazards on. During the day, both blinkers work perfectly. Everything looks good, and I tried replacing the flasher relay but no luck. Any ideas?

@@samlonge139 I actually did last week. I heard that the blinker bulb shares a ground with the marker bulb so I followed the line. About 6 inches back I saw that the cable was somehow jammed between the frame and a piece of plastic, grounding out the blinker when the headlights are on. Another guy with the same problem said how was just a corroded socket.

@@samlonge139 mine was on the same side as the headlight that was constantly illuminating, which was the drivers side for me. I took out both top and bottom light compartments so I could follow the cable back. It was only a few inches for me. Other people said check the blinker relay module under the steering wheel, body control module, and of course fuses and relays.

@BLUECOLLARGARAGE it is in the same location, but it is a smaller square relay, and most aftermarket ones don't quite fit and require some trimming. The factory flasher has the pins more to one side, but the replacements are more centered and creates Clearance issues.
